TAGS Fans,
I purchased the 16 episode set of DVDs from Wal-Mart a couple weeks
ago and couldn't be more pleased. Each episode times out at 24.5 minutes
and they actually have the right theme song (unlike some of the tapes
recently), though for one episode the key was very different. Every
episode has had scenes in it I either haven't seen in years or didn't
remember seeing at all. ("Opie and the Spoiled Kid" has a hilarious bit in
front of the courthouse with a man who is whittling something but won't
tell what it is.)
So, this set and Columbia House prove that the complete episodes do
exist, and are accessible. Let's just hope they release more of them!

P.S. I also purchased a set of 32 episodes of the Beverly Hillbillies that
was put out by the same company. Quality episodes, but not the right theme
song.

Said it once-- maybe as many as four times, but:
==>Forget the DVDs of TAGS. They're all the same
episodes; the music's different. The quality is
no better than that that's BEEN available for
years on various copy-right-lapsing-opportunistic-
companies' tapes.
Without a doubt, the BEST quality [at ANY price]
videos are through Columbia House.
It is in the club's best interest that those of us
that CAN, S-H-O-U-L-D buy as many of the 19 tapes
available... so they (Columbia House)will produce
more.
To be brutally honest, it took several years' in-
terest in M*A*S*H video tapes sold through Columbia
House before the OWNER of the series started produ-
cing "first-season-collection" "store-boughts" on
DVD.

The ONLY things CLOSE to being "Mayberry" that aren't--
and they're uncanny facsimiles-- are Allan"Floyd"Newsome,

only the last two collections listed above will have

Someone said it before. You can ASK for more episodes of
TAGS on TV or DVD. BUT-- if they're not being S-E-E-N or
B-O-U-G-H-T-- there won't be any more. Buy up the tapes a-
vailable through Weaver's. Join Columbia House. Start your
own TAGS' Chapter and buy a set for your Chapter... pool
your money to get the entire set. Help keep Barney and Andy
alive even when-- God bless 'em-- Andy and Don are making
toasts with Hal Smith in heaven! There! My cabbage is start-

Subject: TAGS moment

Just wanted to share a quick note about a TAGS moment that happened to me
today...I am an attorney and had to attend a property tax protest hearing
with a "referee" (appraiser) to argue that the assessed valuation on several
parcels was too high. I was introduced to the referee, who's name was
RICHARD KEITH. I haven't seen TAGS' Richard Keith/KeithThiebodaux recently,
but I don't think this was the same guy...he didn't look much like a
drummer!
Just wondering how many of you have run across folks with either the same
real name or character name as somebody in TAGS?
Looking forward to heading out to Mayberry In The (eastern) Midwest next
week. Can't wait to hear "Hello, Doll".
Keith in Nebraska (the western Midwest where I know how hot it is...it's
"Hot...Dang Hot!").

I have noticed that the squad car is never "shiny", it's
always dusty looking, especially the black portions.
(Almost flat black color). I wonder, if that was done to
show it's use on the dusty back roads of Mayberry, or to
be nonreflective to all the lights used in filming? Any
technical experts out there?

Subject: BARNEY'S MEMORY

Hello Everyone,
I noticed several people spoke of Barney's memory of the Preamble. I
always thought that the funniest thing about that scene was that Barney didn't
remember ONE word right. Not ONE!!
It was the same when Barney was trying to quote the rules or something from
the policeman's manuel. Not ONE word right. Only Andy and Barney could pull
off a scene like that!!

Could'nt sleep Tuesday night and while channel surfing saw Betty Lynn on
Disney in an old serial from 1960. She was the wife of a Texas Ranger.
