Andy probably put Jim in jail because he didn't have the money to pay the
fine. If you'll notice, when Aunt Bee brought dinner, Jim seemed especially
grateful. He probably didn't have many chances to eat like that.

I guess my favorite of all of Andy's ladyfriends would have to be Miss Peggy.
Likes to fish, very easy on the eyes, yep, she's definitely my pick.
On the other hand, its a shame Barbara Eden doesn't qualify. If she did,
she'd win hands down. She is positively NOT a boy!

Charlene Darling was a cutie. I think all us boys
would like to be near to at one time or another in our
life.
She's one of my all time favorite characters on TAGS.
Charlene sang with such sincerity. Even though she
made her Pa' cry. (Dud was the perfect husband
character, Gilligan just didn't 'cut the mustard'). I
have to wonder what Charlene's life would've been like
had she married up with Ernest T. Bass!!
Miss Ellie was the most sincere 'country gal' of
Andy's loves. Helen Crump was a wonderful, long time
charac- ter, but I thought a bit too sophisticated for
The Sheriff Without a gun, Andy.
TED
My favorite of Andy's girlfriends was Ellie Mae. I
think her class and sophistication was a wonderful
contrast to the exagerrated accents and "countryness"
of the early episodes. I wish she'd been on longer.
By the way, does the show ever tell us what happened
to her, or was she just another victum of the
"Unexplained Disapperance" that happened to so many of
the Mayberry folk.

<<I know I have said this before, but my favorite of Andy's love interest
would have to be Charlene Darling! I know that he always acted like he would
never consider that, but my wife and I both feel the shot of him watching
Charlene sing There Is A Time reveals his true heart. In the shot we see
Andy looking at Charlene in a way we never see him look at any of his other
love interests. >>
If Andy had married Charlene, he would have had a built-in bluegrass music
band to pick with on weekends, not to mention the big strong boulders that
came with the house that Brisco offered with Charlene's hand. Plus, he would
have had all the advantages of folk medicine. Charlene was really stuck on
Andy - even named her daughter after him. She thought Andy was as pretty as
a pink rose and beautiful preserved. I think he made a HUGE mistake.

Subject: Fw: Tags Connections
From: James P Stewart <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
I first want to say that Tags is of course my all-time favorite #1
show but another series that I enjoyed was Barnaby Jones. There were a
lot of character connections between the two shows aside from the obvious
of Buddy Ebsen's appearance in Tags and Lee Meriwether being Andy's wife
in the "other" show. This is a partial list of people from Tags that also
appeared in Barnaby Jones. Readers should recognize the names easily.
They are: Betty Lynn, Denver Pyle, Elinor Donahue, Jackie Joseph, Reta
Shaw, Bo Hopkins, Bernard Fox, Arlene Golonka, Jackie Coogan, Amzie
Strickland, Jaime Farr, Bill Bixby, Peggy Mckay, Dabbs Greer, Hal
Smith(playing a bartender selling drinks to minors), Susan Oliver, Terri
Garr, Barbara Stuart, Pat Hingle, Ken Lynch, Richard X Slattery and Julie
Sommars. Okay that last one was a stretch but she was connected to Ange
through Matlock. Four other actors with Tags backgrounds may only be
recognizable by you trained noticers. They are Paul Fix, Norman Alden,
Sam Edwards and my favorite William Lanteau. If you don't know what part
they played just post on the digest and I will respond.
Do you remember Hippie Harrison?

Subject: Barney cereal box
Awhile back, someone had a Barney Cereal box that if I remember correctly,
was a B&W photo of Barney head shot. I have a program that takes a photo
and automatically converts it into a pattern for carving pumpkins.
I want to make a set of Barney & Andy pumpkins this year for Halloween but
need a good copy of a head shot of Barney & Andy for the program to convert
into a stencil for carving. Does anyone know of a site with a good head
shot of Andy & Barney or can the owner of the Barney cereal box contact me
or share the photo? My hard drive failed & I lost a few issues of the
newsletter that had the cereal box info in it. And if anyone needs pumpkin
carving software or famous people patterns, let me know & I'll share them.

Hi Everybody-
I recently saw the episodes Opie's Newspaper and The Cow Thief and caught a
couple of things I thought I would mention. In Opie's Newspaper after Andy &
Co. had retrieved the newspapers he said something to the effect of "Now if
the front room don't fill up will lawyers I guess we got away with it". I
remember when I was a kid many people - my family included - referred to
the living room as the front room. "Let's go in the front room and watch
some TV". This seems pretty self explanatory because in older houses the
living room was indeed the front room in the house. In the Cow Thief episode
when they are all standing around in Fletch's house the mayor referred to
the living room as a parlor. The question I have is does anyone ever
remember referring to a living room as a parlor? I always thought of a
parlor as a more private room - off in another part of the house. If you
were going to do any courtin' or sparkin' it seems like it would be pretty
difficult in the living room, especially if the girl had a big family.

Hey Dean and everybody,
Our own Paul Mulik has already created 3 pumpkin patterns for us. It's
normally only linked to in October but here's the location:
http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/anewsome/private/rimshaw.htm
If you make any other patterns, please send 'em in to me so I can add them to
the Remshaw (yeah..it's spelled wrong in the link but it is the correct link)
place. While you're there...watch out for falling axes and eyes that seem to
watch you all the time.
