Subject: Mayberry Days Silent Auction
As we approach Mayberry Days (only 40 days!), I'd like to ask everyone to
consider helping with our annual WBMUTBB community service project, the
Silent Auction. This will be our 4th year, having previously raised over
$4800 to support the Surry Arts Council, the host of the festival. The
auction is on Saturday (Sept. 28th) from 10:00 am - Noon at the Andy
Griffith Playhouse (usually near the marquee out front).
If you will be in Mount Airy that morning and can spend some time helping at
the auction, it is a great way to meet and visit with friends. The big rush
happens after the parade while we set up and again moments before Noon when
the bidding heats up and then when payment is made. In between, we just need
people to be there to help out or answer questions.
If you would like to donate something for the auction, it is considered a
tax deductible contribution to a non-profit organization, so you get a
benefit as well. All things Mayberry are welcome - memorabilia, autographed
items, or store bought items. Some of the best things have been the
incredible handmade Mayberry crafts from many talented members in years past
- quilts, clocks, art work, embroidered items, teddy bears, a bed jacket,
wreaths, lamps, aprons, quote/trivia calendars - and I know there are new
and fun items being created for this year as well. Best of all, there is
always something for everyone's price range.
I appreciate those of you who have already contacted me about donations and
offers to help. If you are interested in donating an item or your time, or
just want additional information, please email me at [EMAIL PROTECTED] (so I
can schedule people and make bid sheets). Also, there is an auction webpage
linked to the Mayberry Days page at www.surryarts.org.
I look forward to another fun Mayberry Days and seeing all the good people
who help with the WBMUTBB service project. Please stop by the auction table
and see what we have to offer - you can always place a bid to help us out
that way too!

RE: Howard's romantic interests
I think Howard also had an interest in Irene Fairchild, the Nurse. He went on
a double date with her and Andy and Helen. Also, didn't he have an interest
in Alice Harper? They doubled with Andy and Helen too, and went to the cabin
for that weekend......

"Hi all,
Several people have written about Don Knotts and Tim Conway performing
together. Does anyone know if this is a one time appearance or will they be
doing a tour? I live in San Diego and if they are out here, me and the
family will go.
Have a great day!
Wayne McBrayer"
Wayne,
Don and Tim have a very busy schedule touring the country with their comedy
performances. I keep up with their schedule in "The Bullet" - our own
tagsrwc newsletter. Looking forward to seeing everyone in Myrtle Beach on
Oct. 26!

Speaking of Howard's romantic escapades - in Mayberry RFD - he dated a girl
who was involved in sky-diving and, yes, she got Howard to try it. You
should see Emmett and Goober helping him pack his 'chute. Re the violence
topic, also in MRFD - Goober got "tossed" by his judo expert girlfriend -
little Violet. That's just about the situation as she stands.
Goober Linda - the only thing I can toss is my cookies.

>>>What episode/s was the expression [act like somebody] used in??? Maybe
third time asking will be the charm? :-)
Andy sends Opie off to school with these instructions in episode 34,
"Barney's Replacement."
Andy: All ready for school, are you?
Opie: Yes.
Andy: Well, do a good day's work, and act like somebody.
Seems like Andy also said "act like somebody" when releasing prisoners once
or twice.

Last night UPN showed the color episode about Howard
dating Irene Fairchild. The episode where Howard's
mother gets 'sick'. I guess that would qualify as a
love-interest for Howard.
Also, on violence, the episode where the Wakefields &
the other hill family fued and Andy has them duel. I
suppose there's some reference to violence there. Boy,
it's funny when Andy fires his pistol in the air and
the two fueding parties run 'for the hills'.

Actually, it's "The eBullet" now as the paper version of The Bullet is no
longer printed. You can sign up for it at:
http://www.tagsrwc.com/ebullet/joinebullet.htm
You can also check out the "Event Calendar" on the Mayberry.com web site. It
has all the information on events that we know of.
http://mayberry.com/
I encourage folks to drop by the Mayberry.com site and take a look around.
You'll be surprised at how much great information you'll find there.

The link below is to an article about the dedication of North Carolina's
newest & longest bridge into Manteo, where Andy Griffith lives. Be sure to
watch the video segment to see Andy cutting the ribbon and driving the
Governor across the bridge.
