My favorite scene with "violence" is when Opie hits Barney in the pit of the
stomach during Barney's demonstration of how to brace yourself to take a
punch.

"Opie, why don't you help Barney into the chair."

"No, that didn't hurt because he was braced."

In Episode #217, Big Brother, Howard volunteers to be a big brother for a young
man named Tommy but ends up also dating the sister, Betty, played by Elizabeth
MacRae.

Interestingly, Ms. MacRae donated her papers to the UNC-Chapel Hill library and
those papers (http://www.lib.unc.edu/mss/) (papers # 4952) include scripts for
the Andy Griffith Show and Gomer Pyle, USMC. This was the only episode I can
find in which Ms. MacRae played a part, thus, the script listed as part of
those papers must be for "Big Brother." The biographical notes at the UNC
Library site read:

"Actress Elizabeth MacRae appeared in several motion pictures and on many
television shows in the course of her acting career. Her movie roles include
appearances in Francis Ford Coppola's The Conversation, as well as parts in For
Love or Money, The Incredible Mr. Limpet, Everything's Ducky, and others. On
television, for three seasons, she played Gomer Pyle's girlfriend, Lou Ann
Poovie, on Gomer Pyle, USMC, and, for another three seasons, she played
Festus's girlfriend April on Gunsmoke. She had guest starring or co-starring
roles on more than 50 television series, including Barnaby Jones, Kojak,
Mannix, The Fugitive, Dr. Kildare, Andy Griffith, I Dream of Jeannie, 77 Sunset
Strip, SurfSide 6, and numerous other shows. MacRae studied acting in New York
City with Uta Hagen at the Herbert Berghof Studio and at the Art Student's
League. MacRae was born in Columbia, S.C., and raised in Fayetteville, N.C. She
was educated at the Holton Arms School in Washington, D.C. Scripts and!
audiovisual material documenting the acting career of Elizabeth MacRae.
Included are scripts of television programs, movies, and plays in which MacRae
appeared. In a few cases, related items are filed with the script. The
collection also contains two publicity photographs of MacRae; an audiotape of
an interview with MacRae in 1967; several videotapes, mostly of episodes of
Gomer Pyle, USMC, in which MacRae appeared; and some films, including a copy of
Francis Ford Coppola's The Conversation."

Hi all,

Several people have written about Don Knotts and Tim Conway performing
together. Does anyone know if this is a one time appearance or will they be
doing a tour? I live in San Diego and if they are out here, me and the
family will go.

Have a great day!

You should really watch the colored episodes!!! :) (I'm not saying this to
get a "rude", but just to encourage you in a
Mayberry-friendly-sort-of-way.) Howard did have an interest in a girl who's
brother was Howard's "Little Brother" in the Big Brother - Little
Brother program in Mayberry. He was supposed to be helping the boy study and
do better in school, but the boy tricked him into taking the girl to
work and bringing her home, and Howard started to spend more time with her than
he did with the boy.

Subject: Denver Pyle on 'The Twilight Zone'
To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

On Wednesday, August 14 at 12:30 p.m. EST the SCI-FI channel aired 'The
Twilight Zone' episode "Black Leather Jackets." Denver Pyle, known to TAGS
fans as the beloved Briscoe Darling, portrayed Shelley Fabares' father. His
acting in this episode amazed me. He played this role with the demeanor of a
Peter Graves. It was the antithesis of Briscoe Darling. It was very
intellectual and very straight. Brisoce once commented to Andy Taylor that
his haircut was "city-style" in 'Briscoe Declares for Aunt Bee.' Three and a
half months later, Denver sported a "city-style" haircut in this 'Twilight
Zone' installment. For T.V. history's sake, Denver had completed three
episodes of TAGS as Briscoe Darling at the time this 'Twilight Zone' episode
originally aired in January 1964. Denver played another notable city
suburbanite character in the final episode of 'Perry Mason', 'The Final
Fade-Out', in May 1966.

"You know something, Sheriff? That haircut of yours may be city-style, but
your heart was shaped in a bowl." - Briscoe Darling

I live with and the One I live for...is The Andy Griffith Show. I absolutely
eat, breathe, and live all things Andy. My acid-test for kids who come to my
house is to ask them if they like Andy. If not, they don't get invited
back...just kidding, well, sort of.
Well, as Briscoe would say...concerning my little autobiography...SHE'S DONE
