A friend of mine had a tour of duty with the Army National Guard in Bosnia
from October 2001 until April 2002. Among the many things he brought back to
the U.S. was a DVD of TAGS.He purchased it at the AAFES in Bosnia. There are
two episodes of TAGS on this particular DVD. They are the same "public
domain" episodes that have surfaced on the various DVDs of TAGS. A couple of
Mayberry things come to mind concerning military service and Mayberry. Goober
learned his trademark response "Yo!" from the National Guard. Hoke Howell's
Dudley A. Wash returns home after his three year enlistment in the U.S. Army.
Finally, Ernest T. Bass tried to join the Army. It is good to know that
Mayberry is alive and well in Bosnia.

I think my favorite catch phrase is:

"He's a nut!"

Ted

p.s. Barney and his "Bam-bam-bam!" ranks right up there.

NOTE FROM Ben Weaver at Weaver's Dept Store
  http://mayberry.com/tagsrwc/weavers/

<<In response to David Browning's Digest Note on 10/20/02>>

Allan--

Weaver's Dept. Store will be offering the professional video of the Andy
Griffith Parkway Dedication ceremony produced by Video Works. The tape is
about an hour long. We don't have an exact price yet, but we should have the
videos in stock within about a week to 10 days.

(Gregg Hawks at Video Works has indicated that he's not really interested in
getting into handling individual mail orders, so Weaver's will be trying to
help fill that need for fans around the country who are interested in getting
a copy of the tape. As a bonus with every order, we plan to include a free
copy of the Mount Airy News from Oct. 17, which has extensive day-after
coverage of the Dedication.)

Saw a documentary about giraffes last night on Discovery. They mentioned how
giraffes always keep looking out for themselves and frequently get hit by
lightning.

Boy giraffes are selfish!

Hello everyone!

I was in my local store on Friday and saw a lovely display of Blue Willow
Dinnerware for sale. They had all kinds of great pieces available including
the serving plates, salt and pepper shakers and such. I asked about where it
was from, and found out they got it from a place called Heritage Mint, Ltd.
It's not cheap, but it looks to be high quality stuff!

You can check out the whole selection at www.heritagemint.com

Dear WBMUTBB Friends,
It has been quite a week! Those of us here at the Visitors Center are
still up there on "Cloud 10" and really do not wish to come down!!! What a
wonderful homecoming. What a wonderful privilege to get to meet Andy and
Cindi on their visit here to the "Friendly City"! It definitely was the most
significant event to happen in this town and area in decades...and I must say
that it is THE highlight of my career here as director of the Visitors
Center.
Just wanted to get some pertinent information out there in case any of you
wish to get tapes of the dedication or videos of the dedication. After reading
David Browning's note on the bulletin board, I thought I would get the
information out there. I know that WPAQ Radio has tapes available: WPAQ
Radio,, Springs Road, Mt. Airy NC 27030 Phone: 336-786-6111 and Greg Hawks has
videos available at Video Works, 119 Moore Ave, Mt. Airy, NC 27030 Phone:
336-719-6957. It was quite a moving speech.
As far as I am concerned....Andy Griffith did prove to author Thomas Wolfe
and others that you can indeed go home again!
Take care and come back to see us in Mount Airy as often as you can.
Remember, Andy did give Emmett a special gift of some of the original signs
from the Andy Griffith Show. When you visit Mount Airy next, we should have
them on display in the museum. Emmett has promised them as early as next
week!! We luv ya' Ann

Alltel now offers ringtones ... but the "TAGS" theme is NOT one of them!
E-mail them at "Contact US" at www.alltel.com and kindly request that they
include it. I did. Hope springs eternal!

I think the reason Elinor Donahue left after the first season was because she
and Andy just didn't have the "stuff", chemistry or whatever you want to call
it. Seems like I read once that she was a little uncomfortable working with
Andy, although I don't believe there were any hard feelings or anything.

I still say its a shame in this world that Barbara Eden didn't stick around a
while. She is definitely not a boy!

Watching the Counterfeiter episode last night when Aunt Bee orders some
business cards "for her nephew." It always takes me a minute to figure out
that she's buying them for Andy because I don't ever recall her calling him
her nephew. Were there other times she referred to Andy as her nephew?
