talking to this lady at a restaurant. She asked me where I was from and I
said Mayberry and she said she knew someone there. Turns out to be you.
Said she was thinking about stopping back by since she had not seen you in
such a long time. Her name was Madelyn

It appears you're still a bit mixed up. Barney auditioned with "The
National Emblem" by E. E. Bagley, probably the best-known patriotic march
not written by Sousa. The Mayberry Band does play "The Stars and Stripes
Forever" but that's a different scene from the same episode.
At last, it's all coming clear now. Thanks for your help. I guess this
reiterates that, due to my lack of musical knowledge, I ought never try to
audition for the musicale by singing "A Cappella."
Kindest regards,
Mark Selby.

Hey to Emmett,
Here's how I figure it. Remember that box of canning
jars that Andy bought for Aunt Bee's birthday before
he went back and bought the bed jacket? I just betcha
he was hiding them down at the courthouse and he and
Barn switched out the jars the next day.
"Hey where'd the judges go?
Oh they're over there washing their hands."

Mayberry Pickle Store
>>> ...Pickle episode, ...they would have put Aunt
Bea's pickles in the store bought jars, but when
Barney is giving a jar to that guy from Oregon,
the jar he gave him was a mason jar like Aunt Bea's
pickles were in. Did they put the store jars in the
cabinet? Aunt Bea surely would have noticed that.

Didn't mean to overstep, as I too frequently browse Weaver's and occasionally
order. I didn't realize (although I should have) that Weaver's was selling
the game that is offered on TVLand.

I believe he changed his name to Pierre, moved to Raleigh or some big
city and took up with a beautiful manicurist. She left for awhile but I
heard she went back and married him.

Subject: Recent visit to Mt. Airy
Date: Thu, 31 Oct 2002 15:51:46 -0600
I go backpacking with my sons and/or friends once or twice a year up on the
appalachian trail in the mountains, and many times, after we finish our
hike, my son(s) or friends and I will go to Mt. Airy and spend a day
checking things out and getting a pork chop sandwich. Well, my last trip up
in the mountains was the week of Oct. 7th. We got off of the trail up in
Virginia on Friday, Oct. 11th and drove to Mt. Airy. My friend had never
been there. I wanted to show him all of the sights of "Mayberry". Well, we
almost couldn't get a motel room because of the "Autumn Leaves" festival.
Well, we decided to check it out because we were told that there would be
200,000 people in Mt. Airy for this festival. I could not believe it. Well,
we were lucky, we found a parking spot the next morning near the Mt. Airy
welcome center which houses the Andy collection. They had main and some
other side streets blocked off for the festival and the streets were lined
with arts and crafts booths. Imagine 200,000 folks packed onto main st. in
Mt. Airy at one time. There is only one word for it: BIG. I was able to show
my friend most of the things that give you the flavor of Mayberry, but the
line for the Snappy Lunch was blocks long and he didn't get to sample his
first pork chop sandwich. Not to worry, he found a nice bed & breakfast and
intends to return. I also made him a member of my local chapter of TAGSRWC,
The "I Gotta Rude" Chapter of Mobile, AL. All in all, it was another fun
trip to Mayberry. Thanks and happy motoring.
