I'm sure this has been brought up before, but how many
regulars were actually seen getting their haircut or
facial, etc. at Floyd's barber shop? Granted, he
wasn't a real barber, and was usually seen just
combing hair, or faking cutting behind the head. But
I don't ever remember seeing Goober, Gomer, and
several others actually in the chair. Andy, Barn,
Opie, Mayor Pike, and many visitors were shown in the
chair, but very few others. Curious.....

The Return to mayberry tapes show up on e-bay a good bit in fact there was
one for sale just recently. I bought 2 from e-bay, not to long ago and they
are used but in good shape. E-bay has 2 seperate sections for mayberry just
type in mayberry and you will get there, the other one is a little harder to
find. Find the television shows section and go to the theme page you will
find a lot of old tv shows there and of course Mayberry. #1 fan also from
West Virginia.

To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

There was our own Sheldon Leonard on this mornings
episode of Lucy. He was playing a tv producer shooting
a pilot for a new tv show. The plot was about a bank
robbery. The new pilot was something to follow the
Danny Thomas show.

Sheldon talked about 'shooting a pilot' and of course
Lucy took it literally. Mr. Mooney gave Sheldon a key
to let himself into the bank after hours to set up the
shoot. Lucy got wind that Sheldon had a key and was
'planning' his heist tonight.

Guess what Lucy did...she dressed up as the cleaning
lady to foil the robbery. Sound familiar? Remember
Barney dressed up as Mrs. McGillicudy (?) the cleaning
lady? Barney's pant leg falls down to reveal his
uniform.

I believe Barney used Mrs. McGillicudy as his cleaning
lady name...? It also was a name Lucy used frequently
on her show.

Thanks for the great answers!!

>3.Barneys new car. Andy tells Opie, the farmer may let him milk a cow.
>4.There was a cow killed accidentally in the Battle of Mayberry.
>5.Barney hid behind a cow from Frankie Flints father.
>6.Opies Hobo friend. "oh my gosh there goes a whole cow.
>7.Ernest T. could hold a full grown calf up for the vet to give it a shot.

>9.I think Otis' mosaic was a cow in a pasture.
>10.If Bulls count, Aunt Bea and her friends went to a bull fight while in
Mexico.
I am sure there are many more. Tvrayvon, Half Moon Trailer Park,
River Road

Wow what an impressive list of cows, Tvrayvon! I particularly liked #8. I
hadn't come up with all of these, but two additional I had thought of were
1) the one in the Andelina Walsh/Darling dowery--A hillside plot, cabin with
no roof, boulders and a cow.
2) Also the other that most folks probably thought of was old Baker-Charlie
The shoe-wearin' cow (among others) stolen by the cow thief..and also the
bull he tried to steal.
This one, I believe, is the only one with "cow" in the title "the
Cow-thief"

More cows trained noticers?

------Way to go also Sue!
I'll try a few.....

>A "gracious winner" was Clara in the Simmmons Seed Rose Contest -- by
>taking up Aunt Bee's picture of her rose and telling the judges that Bee
>should have won.

Good one, I also think Erma Bishop fit that category.

>One of the "sorest losers" was Opie -- when he did not win the 50 yard dash
>race. I also think that he falls into the "who learned the most from
>losing" because he could not stand it that his Pa was disappointed in him.

Correct also, though I'd like to count Barney when he did not get that
raise.

>>One of the "most surprising" was Erma Bishop when she won the Miss
Mayberry
Beauty Contest.

Exactly right! And Karen in the skeet shooting.

Andy also "learned the most from losing" when Karen beat him at skeet
shooting. He learned not to judge people and ran after Karen to apologize.

>>Well said! I was thinking of Opie and the 50 yard dash also.

A "regretful winner" was also Opie -- when he won the Grocery Store job and
then learned that the other boy needed the job to help his parents pay
bills.

>>VERY good! I was thinking of Aunt Bee and the prizes she won that
alienated her friends.

Dear fellow townsfolk,

I am interested in knowing how you would choose the best of TAGS. This is a
difficult task, in choosing just one for each category, but if you should feel
an unction, then please share. I chose only the B/W episodes, but feel free to
expand into the technicolor world if you find that you have favorites after
season five. Also, note that I often choose my favorites, not based solely on
who starred in a particular episode, but if their contribution to an episode
did it for me, for example, my favorite Floyd episode was not one where Floyd
was the main focus of the episode like The Bookie Barber or, Floyd, the Gay
Deceiver, but instead....well, just read on. Likewise, my favorite Thelma Lou
episode had very little to do with Thelma Lou, but she was never more beautiful
or charming then in the one I chose. (It was the only one that I recall, where
she wore her hair down.) Anyway, let's play shall we?

>>>For some reason, I believe when the film was printed, they used the

more, but that's my theory.

In the good old days, flipping negatives over was sometimes done to make the
set look twice as big.  It was done all the time on shows like Star Trek;
the budget was so small that they had to use all sorts of tricks to make
things look bigger than they really were. Of course, it sometimes happened
accidentally, too.

Unbelievable

I'm in my car driving around here in Central Indiana, listening to my radio
and I hear the Talk Show host doing a remote broadcast from the Mayberry
Cafi in Danville IN. I am enjoying the Mayberry-related banter when I hear
none other than our own Mike Creech. He is there helping promote the new
Mayberry trivia board game.

I tried to call in to say hello to Mike, but the lines were not open. They
were giving away tickets to see our NBA team the Pacers for anyone who would
do a Mayberry character impression. I almost drove the 25 miles from where
I was to get there and pick up some tickets, but I had some other
obligations. Some of the impressions were pretty lame, but others were
pretty good.

They also had Clint Howard and Betty Lynn Call in live to talk them.

Mike when you get back, tell us how your visit to Indiana was.
Sorry we missed You
