My recollection is that he identified himself as the cousin of the regular
cleaning lady, Mrs. MacGruder who was out sick with "fungus of the knee",
whatever that is.

Ted's note

>>Guess what Lucy did...she dressed up as the cleaning lady to foil the
robbery. Sound familiar? Remember Barney dressed up as Mrs. McGillicudy (?)
the cleaning
lady? Barney's pant leg falls down to reveal his uniform.

I believe Barney used Mrs. McGillicudy as his cleaning lady name...? It also
was a name Lucy used frequently on her show.<<<

Well Ted, you'll probably get a dozen corrections on this but Barney was
Mrs. MacGruder. Lucy had the monopoly on McGillicudy. Also Mr. McGuiness
and Ole Man McCabe both had apple trees good for climbing..not to be
confused with Peggy McMillan or Viola MCConker (dips snuff)

I had a similar experience with Gilligan's Island this week. I heard a
familiar voice and looked over to see the guy who played the "head gypsy" in
the episode where Andy tries to evict the Gypsies. He took some of the
Islanders to a haunted castle on another Island...and there was a picture
with moving eyes in it. Matter of fact it may have been old man Remshaw
himself. There were other similarities to the Remshaw place...but no
baseball.

Charlie Varney said "But I don't ever remember seeing Goober, Gomer, and
several others actually in the chair."

Goober had been going to Floyd ever since he was a kid. Remember in the
episode 'The Punch In The Nose' he was a 'witness'. He was there reading
a comic book. But I don't recall ever seeing him in the actual chair.

I'm having a wonderful time here in Indiana! I've been visiting for almost
41 years now (ha, ha). Actually, I've lived here all my life and I reside in
Avon, Indiana. As for the radio broadcast from The Mayberry cafe, I had
received a call to help out some by getting a few of the cast members to call
in to the show. Then while I was there at the cafe, Dave "the King" Wilson
asked if I would set in and answer some trivia. I couldn't resist.

In my local newspaper in the sports section, there was an article
about a couple of high school football rivals. The heading of the
article was titled "What it was, was football". I wonder how many
people actually understood that.

My favorite episode of all time is when Clara forfeits her grand prize in
the rose contest to Aunt Bee. Such love and caring is so rarely seen
that it warms my heart and makes me cry every time I see it even if it's
been just the day before!

Actually, Barney's turn as a cleaning lady was to pretend to be the
cousin of Mrs. Magruder, the bank's regular cleanup person. But
its no less hilarious.

There was the episode when Goober went hunting and came back with a
beard. He was in the chair getting a trim after being out in the woods
for a week or so.

Great list Franklin, but I think Opie the birdman should have been
listed on there for best father & son, but the bully episode was a good
one as well.

It claims to have Andy's autograph along with Don Knotts and Jim Nabors. It's
a pretty nice item, but I didn't think Andy did autographs. Is it safe to
assume it's a fake?

That is indeed the correct title. It's from a larger work called "Voices of
the Woods" by Russian composer and pianist Anton Rubinstein (1829-1894).

I'll not attempt to address the entire list, but I do humbly disagree on the
above (although I do really like Gomer in that episode!). I think Gomer's
best episode was "A Date for Gomer." I feel like Gomer's character was
fleshed out more in that story. We see the tender, sensitive side to his
character, and I just love the way he makes Mary Grace feel like a queen
instead of an ugly duckling!
