I remember those big fancy bottles displayed in stores as eye-catchers.
Smaller sample bottles were under the counter or in a drawer for the
customer's approval. Opie being a young boy with his first job just
panicked and wasn't even thinking about a lack of fragrance. The
druggist didn't make any money off the deal but he sure learned a lesson
in humility and Opie learned one in human kindness. And I guess old Ange
could be a big-spender once in awhile all in the name of love, God's
greatest gift!

Lanteau also has a small but memorable part in the Henry Fonda/Katherine
Hepburn classic "On Golden Pond." He's the mailman.

My theory as to why we never saw Ed Sawyer or Lucy again is this: If you
recall Lucy did ask Ed to call on her. Well, I think he did just that and
they hit it off so well that they eloped and left town before he had a chance
to sign the papers to buy the filling station. That's just my theory.

"I just hate it when I get obtuse."
The episode that I think is strange is when Andy and Helen get trapped in the
cave and Barney gets all the credit for saving them. Never could figure out
how Helen and Andy pulled that one off. They must have paid people to keep
it quiet that they had really escaped. Like the man who gave them a lift to
town. Certainly Andy would have explained to him what had happened and why
they were so dirty. Speaking of which, I also thought it was mighty strange
that Helen was more concerned about her dirty dress than Barney and Thelma
Lou so she just had to go back to her house and change. Then what about
Sarah. Certainly she knew it was Helen who called the courthouse because of
her voice and also extension. And what about all the people who must have
them walk all the way back to the cave. Certainly not everyone in town was
at the picnic. This just all makes me want to put a pail over my head and
have a "good thank".

You mean "Sprechen sie Deutsch?" not "spoken de
deutch?" hehehe Barney pronounced it properly, but
Andy had some problems.

Subject: TAGS specials
Date: Sun, 8 Dec 2002 20:15:13 -0600

I recently posted to the digest offering to copy the 2 TAGS specials that
aired recently on TV Land and Nick at Nite. I have since discovered that
I also have another special from the E! channel called "E! True Hollywood
Story: Andy of Mayberry". I must confess that I have not yet watched
this one, but if anyone wants it, I will extend the same offer on it as
on the other two. I will copy it for anyone who will send me a blank
tape and enough postage to return the tape. I made the same offer for
"Return to Mayberry" the next time it airs and I just noticed that it
will be running on one of the local channels in my area (Dallas/Ft Worth)
on this Tuesday, 12/10/02 starting at 11:30 PM. I have programmed my PVR
to record it. If that is successful, I can copy it to tape also. Send me
an e-mail at [EMAIL PROTECTED] if you are interested in any of these.
