Those are some interesting points, Ken and Linda. Let's take them one at a
time:

>>>...Like the man who gave them a lift to town. Certainly Andy would have
explained to him what had happened and why they were so dirty.

That one's easy; the man was probably a stranger from parts unknown, just
passing through the area. He probably never intended to stop in Mayberry,
and later on he never passed that way again. Obviously, his truck had no
radio (very common in the good old days).

>>>Speaking of which, I also thought it was mighty strange that Helen was
more concerned about her dirty dress than Barney and Thelma Lou so she just
had to go back to her house and change.

Well you see, that has to do with vanity.

>>>Then what about Sarah. Certainly she knew it was Helen who called the
courthouse because of
her voice and also extension.

Maybe Sarah had gone to the picnic, and asked a friend from the Mt. Pilot
phone company to watch the board for a couple of hours. After all, she
couldn't possibly have been on duty 24-7-365. She had to take a break ONCE
in a while.

>>>And what about all the people who must have them walk all the way back to
the cave. Certainly not everyone in town was at the picnic.

Maybe Andy explained the situation to a close friend who agreed to give them
a ride and not to mention it to anyone.

To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

My four-year-old daughter just came up with another TAGS moment. We were
preparing to play the "Go Fish" game (where the fish go around in a circle
opening and closing their mouths and you try to catch them with your fishing
rod). Well, I was just ready to play after setting it up when she got up and
said "Wait, first we have to do this!" She then proceeded to put the little
fishing pole over her shoulder and started marching down the hall and humming
the TAGS theme! A girl after my own heart!!!!

To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Just something I noticed in the episode about the auto show in Raleigh. Andy
says he is thirsty and goes to the machine to get a bottle of pop. After he
points out Roy to Goober and tells Goober he is a "Big Man," they head back
to the car smiling. But what about the pop Andy bought? He left it right
there where he sat it when he was pointing out Roy to "Goober. And it was
completely full. Seems if he was thirsty, he would have remembered his drink
before the long ride home.....

Thanks to all of you that shared your theories about Ed Sawyer. The
"sawyerberry" one was very funny. I laughed out loud when I read it.

The "On Golden Pond" character is where I have seen him before! Great
observation! I love that movie.

Well...everybody have a very Mayberry day!

Blessings,

They still use those big bottles. At Hechts you can usually see an oversize
display of Tressor perfums in the Lancome dept. as well as a very large display
of the new
perfume Bora Bora in with the Liz Claiborne perfumes. I am sure other dept.
stores have similar props. And, yes, they contain colored water!

Flora - when I am not pumping gas for Goober or waiting tables at the diner, I
sell perfume!

Too bad Lester Scobey took that job at Weavers. They're hiring down at the
pickle factory and you know they pay better than ol' Ben. Just another sign
the economy is improving.

1) Does anybody know whether Andy Griffith or Don Knotts or any of the other
cast members ever read the digest? Are they members of any chapters?

Just wonderin'.<<<

Saw this question still hangin out there so I thought as a veteran of oh 3
or 4 years, I'd word an answer that I've hear Allan say before about the
Digest.

"I can't tell Ya" (remember Opie in the keeper of the Flame) I know the
episode number but I can't tell ya. That's the answer to the question. "I
Can't tell ya"

Anyway there apparently are at least some family members of TAGS stars or
writers, but they are on, on the condition that they not be named. Allan
has given his word as a gentleman to keep them anonymous..and he won't even
tell Laura Lee Hobbs..so we'll just have to wonder.

And just because yer a Deputy that don't mean ya get free fruit!

Just wanted to take the time to thank Allan for all the work he does so
that we can enjoy all postings to the board. I'm sure that it is more work
than we think . I always enjoy reading comments that let me know that there
are other TAGS fans that are just as passionate as I am.
Thanks again cousin Allan for all your hard work.

According to the trusty Inflation Calculator web site, the $64 bottle of
perfume that Ange bought for Helen would cost more than $326.52 in today's
dollars. Ol' Ange was quite the big spender! Let's see...this episode came
after Ange lost some money on the buried treasure scheme when George Jones
came to town...and after his laundromat experience...so maybe he recouped
enough from that entrepreneurial venture to afford such a fancy bottle of
perfume.

For those who don't have the Western Channel, it is also on the Hallmark
Channel, Saturdays at 1pm to 2pm. John

If you have access to the WESTERN CHANNEL (a part of the ENCORE package on
satellite), they are showing the old black and white episodes of GUNSMOKE at
7 pm eastern every weekday. I usually see at least on TAGS cast member
everyday. Denver Pyle is on there quite often but I've seen a very young
Elizabeth MacRae (Lou ANN Pouvey), James Best (Jim Lindsey), Dabbs Greer,
Howard McNear and so many others. If you get this channel, check it out.
