I think Dinah Shore, Ed Asner, Mary Tyler Moore and Art Carney have all won
more Emmys. But if I am not mistaken, Don Knotts still holds the all time
record for winning the most Emmys for playing the same character on the same
show. (Ed Asner possibly won at least that many for playing Lou Grant, but
that was spread out over two series, "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" and "Lou
Grant.")

Ken appears at the Hollywood Collectors Show in N. Hollywood about once a
year, usually with Jackie Joseph, and/or TAGS and F-Troop cast members &
friends. I've heard from more than one show promoter here on the east coast
that travel is an issue with Ken... he will not fly.

The only one which truly features Floyd as the main charater is "Floyd, the
Gay Deceiver." There are several in which he plays an prominent role,
however, such as:
Convicts at Large (already mentioned)
The Beauty Contest
Andy and the Woman Speeder
Otis Sues the County
The Bookie Barber
The Case of the Punch in the Nose
Goober's Contest

Have you guys noticed how Ben Weaver's attitude about Christmas is different
this year? I heard about what happened over at the Court House last year,
but knowing ol' Ben like I do, I figured he's slip back into his mean
ways.....but I was wrong. Shopping over at Weaver's is a pure joy. Ben
just lights up the place, running around like a child on Christmas morning.
Got Lester Scobey working all sorts of hours, but you should see Ben with
Lester's kids. You'd think they were his own grandchildren.
Bless you, Ben.

Thanks Allan - the E-Card was nice, real nice
Hey, I also got a nice Holiday postcard from our Presiding Goober, Jim
Clark at Weaver's with a picture of the Andy Griffith Highway sign.
That was real nice, but I see Ben didn't sign it - likely he was off
peeking in the courthouse window or stealing a bench or something.
He's a prince, that Jim Clark, a prince I tell you.

I've been wondering who that man is who guest starred in Andy's Vacation, the
farmer with a chicken throwing wife? He also played Reverend Alden for years
on Little House. Its kind of interesting to see him at the
courthouse, complaining because Andy fined him $10 for fighting with his wife,
then in the 70s, laughing at Charles Ingalls for walking into church with
green hair. Ha!!
"Andy, tell the caretaker my plot needs watering".

Subject: Opie's teeth
Hey guys,
Here's something I've been studying on for the last few days. Did Opie still
have his baby teeth when the series started, and if he did, why don't we ever
see him toothless? Aunt Bee would have had to soak his cornbread in buttermilk.
Regarding Ken Berry in reunions . . . he did do an interview for the Mayberry
reunion show that was on a couple of weeks ago. Can't remember which one. He
said that CBS cancelled everything that had a tree in it.
Also, thanks to the many folks that have promised to pray for my military
children. I wonder if Andy had trouble letting Opie grow up and leave home? I
sure could use some of Andy's wisdom now.
A Blessed Christmas to you and yours from New York State. I don't envy you
Southerners anymore after what you've gone through with the ice storms. Good
thing Gomer had lots of wood chopped.

I sure enjoyed that card from Barney. I'm always glad to hear about his life
in the city. Funny how a small town boy like Barney is drawn to the big
lights.

Subject: Emma
Date: Fri, 13 Dec 2002 15:34:57 -0500
This afternoon I was over at Walker's Drug Store having a chocolate malt
(Miss Ellie puts 2 shots of malt in, so it's extra good) when Emma Watson
comes in. Well, she immediately spots me and comes over to bring me up to
date on how her "versitus" is doing these days and how it's really gotten
bad this last week. Only a refill of her prescription will save her now.
You remember that little flap between Emma and Ellie when Ellie first came
to down? I think Emma is still sorta afraid that Ellie is going to refuse
to give her her pills. Emma is always just sweet little ol' Emma when
buying her toilet water or peroxide (it's just for gargling). But when it
comes to those pills, another side of Emma surfaces. It you've never seen
this little event, you need to schedule a visit to Walker's just to be able
to see Emma go over to the prescription counter, smack her money down and
say "Here's my dime, now, gimme my pills!" That Emma, she's a bird in this
world.

Subject: One of Those Days
Date: Fri, 13 Dec 2002 15:45:34 -0500
You ever have one of those days where little things get you down? They can
be just absolutely trivial and yet they can tear up your day. My favorite
sandwich is peanut butter and jelly (has to be Jif peanut butter). Yeah, I
know I'm almost 60, but it is still my favorite sandwich and you can't do
anything about it. So I'm all set for lunch, brought me a PBJ on some nice
fresh bread and even had a Mr. Cookie Bar for a sweet. Well, I looked
forward to lunch all morning and about 11:30, just when I'm thinking about
maybe having lunch a little early, I see Leon with my sandwich and some dog
eating my Mr. Cookie bar. I end up at the Diner having vienna sausages
(heavy on the puree) on a paper disc.
I still haven't figured out who did it, but I did see Chester and the guys
having a good giggle over on the porch of the hotel, so I've got an idea.
No thank you, Leon.

Geez 40 years is long time to hold a grudge.I mean Mr
Masters told Andy when Gomer was going to replace Barn
as the choir soloist " That in a hundred years who
will know the difference" Andy said "Well Barney will
rememeber"
I digress. Sad that Jack is bitter. Aunt Bee says
it causes wrinkles. He ( Jack) had a good
career.
Such is life
I just realized the other day that Miz. Poltice and
Ralph Henderson are one and the same.
Reta Shaw was so good in those parts.
Everyone have a nice day
Awwwwwww C'mon Jack let it go .......Laverne
ps. Barney don't be posing as a manniquin in that new
Mall job you have. Watch the clanking old ladies too.

I was just watching the episode "The New Doctor"
Where Ellie is hanging out with the new doc and Andy gets jealous.
He was played by George Nader and I just wondered if he was any kin to
Ralph Nader? Anyone know?
