Hey Everyone,

I just want to say a Merry Christmas to all of my friends from Mayberry. You
are some of the finest folks I have ever had the privilege to know, and it is a
honor to call you all my friends. There have been many days this year when my
Mama was so ill and when she passed away, that the digest was one of the few
things that could bring a big smile to my face, and I thank all of you for
that. I would like to say a special Merry Christmas to Allan and Jim and their
families, who help this digest be all that it is, and bring all of us so much
laughter and joy.

May all of you have a wonderful Christmas with lots of Mayberry Moments that
you share with all of us, so that we may enjoy them. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

Anita Carpenter

During the early years, Andy did a commercial at the end of each episode where
he said something like: "start your day with Post Toasties, they're go--od!
I appreciate it and good night." Are there any tapes of Andy saying "I
appreciate it and good night?"

I think there are 4. "Jingle Bells" by Barney, "Deck the Halls" by ever'body
in the courthouse except Weaver, "Away In A Manger" by Andy and Ellie (and
Ben), and "The First Noel" by the ladies in the Courthouse after Ben gives
out his gifts.

Merry Christmas, y'all!

cannot for the life of me remember 8 or 9. I'll be looking forward to
the answers!

As much as I love TAGS, I cannot believe all the memorabilia out there,
such as the mayberry town little items and I've never seen any of it.

>>Then they're having a "Last Things Last" and "First Things First" special
where they're airing the last episodes of TV shows and then the first ones.
For TAGS, they're airing "Mayberry R.F.D" (episode #249) on Dec. 31st. at
7:30
and 10:00 p.m. EST. And then the next day, Jan. 1st, they're airing "The
New
Housekeeper," (episode #1) at 7:30 and 10:00 p.m EST.<<<

That's right Ellen (though we normally think of Mayberry RFD as episode
#241.) and also I saw on TVLands's Website that they are showing the
Mayberry RFD episode when Andy and Helen get married on New Year's day as
well. I think at 7 PM, so watch for that one if you don't have it on tape.

A couple comments about the Christmas episode that was shown on Dec 21. It
was good to see the epilogue that I had only seen once before (about Ben,
and Lester's empty jug). Also a trained noticer comment. When Ben Weaver
is standing at the jail window, it appears there is no glass in the window.
In another episode in which Andy and Barney are locked out of the
courthouse, they tap on the glass in this window to wake up Otis..so maybe
it's a removable window?

For you newer members, there are a couple of fan fiction stories about
Christmas on our Fan Fiction site. As the author of one of them, let me
give a shameless plug and plea for you to check them out.

http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/anewsome/private/fanfiction.htm

Thanks for the quiz Paul. You can get most of them by watching the
Christmas episode, but there are a few that are not that easy.

May you all have a Mayberry Sing-along Christmas. By that I mean that the
happiest times of Malcolm Tucker and Ben Weaver were when they were able to
sing along with the Little Brown Church, and Away in a Manger. If you see
or experience a little joy in others...take the time to stop and sing along.

Yes, I saw Coweta County and hated to see "my Andy" as that character. And
the execution scene was more than I could handle. I wish he wouldn't do roles
like that. Did you see the movie called something like "The Girl in the Empty
Grave" and "An Angel in my Pocket" ? I thought those were good. I also
liked him as Ash Robinson in the movie about the doctor who murdered his wife.
(Andy was the woman's father.)
