I think he says that at the end of a Post Sugar Crisp commercial I have on
tape, featuring the Morrison sisters. I have also heard (but don't have on
tape) a spot where he says it at the end of a Post Toasties ad that also
features Opie and Aunt Bee. That's the one where he does the "magic trick"
by pulling back a shuck of corn and revealing the corn flakes in place of the
actual corn.

One has to wonder this Christmas season if there were any office Christmas
parties at that office park on the former Forty Acres site. If there were,
did they know they were partying on hallowed ground? It makes one reflect on
the exterior shots of 'A Christmas Story.' This TAGS episode was number 11
in production order, so it is safe to say that it was filmed in the summer or
early fall of 1960. 'A Christmas Story' was written by David Adler a.k.a
Frank Tarloff. He was unfairly blacklisted during the "red scare" of the
1950s with all of the House UnAmerican Activities Committee hearings going
on. So was Will Geer, and he came very close to marrying Aunt Bee on
'Mayberry R.F.D.'
Merry Christmas to all!
Don't the Christmas trees sound nice and full!

Thanks to everyone who tried the quiz. Johnny got 100% correct. BTW, there
really are only three correct answers for 10, because Jingle Bells is not a
Christmas song, and despite popular opinion, neither are Sleigh Ride, Winter
Wonderland, or Let it Snow! Let is Snow! Let it Snow!, and why anybody would
ever think that "My Favorite Things" is a Christmas song is something I will
never understand ... but I digress.

Anyway, here are the answers for those who may have missed them yesterday.
Episode titles are given for those questions NOT from the Christmas episode.

>>>
1. Where did Barney carelessly leave a bunch of Christmas decorations?
On the roof of the Courthouse
(The Big House)

2. What type of dressing does Aunt Bee make for Christmas dinner?
 Orange dressing

3. What does Ellie bring to the Christmas party at the courthouse?
 Egg nog?

4. Why doesn't Andy want to play Santa Claus?
Because he was Santa last year

5. For what offense did Andy lock up Sam Muggins on Christmas Eve?
 Moonshining

6. What gift was Barney planning to give Andy for Christmas?
A hand-made afghan in the official state colors
(The Fun Girls)

7. Who gives Opie a pair of roller skates for Christmas?
 Ben Weaver

8. What woman was said to have entered a May/December marriage because she
saw her husband as "Santy Claus?"
 Sue Grigsby?
(Opie's Newspaper)

9. Where does Barney get new light bulbs for the Christmas tree?
 Smith's (or possibly Smitt's -- it's hard to tell)

10. Name every Christmas song sung during the TAGS Christmas episode (there
are three).
I think there are 4. "Jingle Bells" by Barney, "Deck the Halls" by
ever'body in the courthouse except Weaver, "Away In A Manger" by Andy and
Ellie (and Ben), and "The First Noel" by the ladies in the Courthouse after
Ben gives out his gifts.

Merry Christmas, y'all!
