My favorite episode of TAGS of all time is the classic 'Opie the Birdman.' This is partly due to Ronny Howard's powerful performance at the end of the first act and Andy and Ronny's scene at the conclusion of the episode. Strip away all the humor, (homespun, corn, or otherwise), and you get an emotional cinematic experience in episodic television with that one camera. At the end of the episode, it all came together with the acting, the heart wrenching music, and Andy's final line. This episode came at the creative apex of the series history, Nielsen ratings notwithstanding. All other episodes, as great as they may be, fall under this one. (If I were Andy, I would have telephoned Ronny Howard instead of Don Knotts after the original airing of this episode. Whew!!!)
