I have a theory about Don Knotts leaving after five years. Andy wouldn't have
wanted to stand in his way of having a movie career.
I looked at Wikipedia and noticed the offensive part seems to be gone. I
agree with Aunt Bee, Helen wasn't that kinda girl and Andy wasn't that kinda
guy. I believe they had a long courtship because they believed marriage was
a lifelong committment, no quick out if they just decided they wanted to leave.
They were being smart to make sure.
