As a league bowler myself, I can tell you how this happens: At the beggining of the game (the first frame), Mayberry bowled on lane 9 and Mt. Pilot bowled on lane 10. Thereafter, the teams would switch lanes each frame. So, on the odd-numbered frames, Howard would be on Lane 9, and on the even-numbered frames he would be on lane 10. What is interesting to me about this episode is the fact that the bowling center has ten lanes. At the places I have bowled, the number of lanes has always been divisible by 4, i.e., 8, 12, 24, etc. One other question, I wonder if the Mayberry Lanes sold beer? John O.
