Cay, I watched that episode recently, too. Every time I watch it, I think the same thing. The scene and the sentiments expressed come across as so GENUINE that it doesn't seem like actors playing a part. Rather, I almost feel like I'm eavesdropping on a private conversation! I think that Andy, especially, was revealing his true feelings to the audience in the epilogue. There is a tender wistfulness about that scene that gets me every time.
