My original suggestion did not include any particular characters as I am
well aware of the rules regarding people on stamps. A suggestion for a stamp
representing our favorite city of Mayberry is all a request needs - there
are plenty of drawings representing an image of Mayberry with out the
characters. Maybe even just the badge with words Mayberry and Sheriff on it,
the squad car, the court house. You can't put a bunch of people's face on an
area as small as a stamp and even if you could how could you justify which
characters? So forget the faces. Even just the words Mayberry, USA, maybe
inside a star, is enough. We probably wouldn't even get a chance to make a
suggestion for a design. If the idea were ever accepted I'm sure the
committee would come up with their own design.
Anyway, I already wrote my letter.
