I agree partly with Janet and Kim. Mrs. Wiley is an empty nester, who still loves to have young folks around, so she hosts these socials once a month or maybe twice a month, just to keep the social scene active in Mayberry. Mr. Wiley is a faithful and helpful husband. He's in the kitchen mixing up some more "coffee, tea or punch," thank you. Circumstances just didn't allow him to appear on camera in this episode.
