Hey Folks,
I hope you're enjoying this look in the the history of our chapter. I
know I am enjoying going back and digging up these little bits of our
little corner of Mayberry's history. I'm surprised that I still have
these files after 15 years. This one is actually only 14 years old as
it is a letter I wrote to Jim Clark on December 16, 1992. It's more or
less a report to TAGSRWC HQ about how WBMUTBB is doing. There's some
personal info about me in there too but I though it was worth a quick
read for you guys as part of the history file.
I have a notebook at home (I'm traveling for work this week) with some
REALLY old messages posted way back when on the Prodigy boards. I
printed them out and I'll be transcribing some of those in the coming
days and weeks and posting them here as well.
You guys are the think that keeps out little corner of Mayberry a place
I want to visit each day. I was glad to see that Bob posted some history
of his own yesterday and I'd love to hear from more of you about what
WBMUTBB has meant to you. I know for me...I've made friends that I would
never have made if it were for this place. For all of you, I am grateful
and I thank God for His allowing me to meet all of you both in real life
and here on the web.
Whew...sounding kind'a mushy so lets get back to the history...to get
things back to dry as dust. The note below was to Jim Clark just after
our 1st Anniversary. Enjoy --Allan

TAGSRWC: "Who's Been Messsin Up the Bulletin Board?" Chapter

Hey Jim,
How are things in Nashville? Hope things are goin' good for both you
and Mary. Things with me are going great. Since the last time I talked
to you, I got married. And no, she doesn't look like Barney in a
wedding dress.
Rob and I are still the "Mother Figure" chapter here in Huntsville, AL.
And as you may remember, I've got the "WBMUTBB?" chapter on Prodigy.
We're still lookin' for you to join us on the computer board if you ever
have a chance. I haven't been a faithful as I once was, before I
married, but things there just keep growing. This year we even sent
each other Christmas cards and some pictures so that the Prodigy bunch
could see each other. Not everybody joined in but we had a fine turn
out of cards.
Some of the folks on the Prodigy service have been holding at least
weekly conversations for the last two years on Prodigy. Two years. And
we had a anniversary of one year of being a chapter in November and
folks wrote in and said what TAGS meant to them. Some of the things
they said would bring tears to your eyes. I'll try to send you the one
that I thought was the best one of 'em all.
Well, here are my dues for the next year along with the address change
now that I'm out of Rob's house. I think he feels like Howard did when
his Mother got married. He did buy a new couch, but I don't think it
looks like a cow. I haven't seen any pillows layin' around on the floor
either.
Tell Mary "Hey" and Merry Christmas from the "Mother Figure" and "Who's
Been Messin' Up The Bulletin Board?" chapters. Keep up the good work.
The Bullet just keeps gettin' better.
