A friend told me a good story about Andy Griffith last week that I thought was worth sharing. A few years ago, the woman my friend married (her name is Lisa) was involved in foster care for kids and was introduced to a young girl from Manteo who was living at a group home run by the Methodist church. When the time came for the girl to move to her new hometown, Lisa went to Manteo and Andy Griffith was there at the group home for the going away event. They all got to spend some time together, take photos and say their goodbyes. Sometime later a package arrives in the mail and it was a computer that Andy sent to the young girl in her new home. Andy has helped the schools in Manteo get computers and internet access and didn’t let the fact that one girl was moving away stop her from benefiting from his generosity.
