I just realized that there are two songs, although different genres of music, that are similar in structure and in how they were re-issued for greatest hits compilations. I'm comparing The Dillards' 'She Sang Hymns Out of Tune' with KISS' 'Detroit Rock City.' Both songs begin with a radio news broadcast by a member of their respective bands, Mitch Jayne and Gene Simmons. Both, ironically, are also the bass players. When 'She Sang Hymns Out of Tune' was compiled for The Dillards 'There is a Time (1963-1970), the radio preamble was omitted. This was also the case for the "news broadcast" in 'Detroit Rock City' when 'Double Platinum' was released in 1978. Curious. Curious.
