First off, I want to weigh in on the B/W vs. colour episodes: I miss Barney in them very much but I cherish them for their goodness too; my all-time favorite episode is a colour one: "Only a Rose," in which one of the greatest examples of true friendship and personal sacrifice is displayed. Second, I believe Ed Sawyer made several appearances on Newhart, where Bob was the innkeeper. Third, I believe Barney actually quotes the exact date he stood on the corner waiting for the Apricot Queen but I don't know it offhand.
