I just read a story about some teenagers stealing letter Rs from a bunch of business signs in Greencastle, Indiana. They said that more than 100 letter Rs were stolen from about 2 dozen businesses. Then, the mother of one of the thieves took the letters back and was caught on security cameras. (I'm getting to why this is about TAGS.) They traced her license number and found the thieves, who are expected to be charged with criminal conversion, which has a max one year in prison and up to $5000 fine. But they are planning to make the teens apologize to the businesses they stole from and make them do community service. The prosecutor said, "We're more like Andy in Mayberry here, than in Indianapolis." I guess that means they go more by the heart than by the book sometimes! :) I thought it was a cute story and I was glad to see that some of Andy's police methods are still in effect today.
