Ron Howard used to come down this way pretty regular also. His dad-in-law lived around here (retired & came back to his hometown in SW LA) and they'd come visit. From the obit in the paper, the man sounds like a great guy and a perfect person to have lived in Mayberry (it mentioned his childhood pets--flying squirrels that he brought to school. etc). The local paper usually mentioned Mr. Howard's visit after he was gone but I always felt good knowing he had been in the area.
