Yes, Wade, there are Mayberry-like towns left. I live in Berkeley Heights,NJ
for 30 years now. When I moved here to raise my family, the town was small &
safe...we didn't lock our doors & everyone knew everyone & the school system is
one of the top 10 in Jersey! In the name of "progress" a few too many condos
exist now & the population of the town has grown, but my neighborhood has
stayed the same, thank goodness! We take my grandson for a walk after dinner &
the whole neighborhood is out & we all chat ...maybe share a glss of wine (oops
I mean pop) & life is GOOD!!!! My daughter & son-in-law & 9 month old grandson
just bought the house across the street from me & I am in HEAVEN!!! One other
BIG change...I bought my house in 1976 for $61,500. My daughter's first home in
2006 cost her $800,000.!!! All in the name of "progress"!?! But, the town is
still safe & friendly & a lot of the "kids" who were raised here are coming
back to settle down & raise their families, so I guess that sa
ys it all!!! Have A WONDERFULL, MAYBERRY WEEKEND!!!!
