If indeed Mr. Schwamp originally was to have some speaking lines, that leads
me to suspect that he must have had some prior theater, film, or television
experience. A major production like "The Andy Griffith Show" would never
contract someone off the street for a speaking role, no matter how small it
might be. So there must be some record of this man's appearance before the
public "somewhere's else."

Now, if he were hired to just stand there in the stag line, nod, and smile,
then I could believe he was just a friend of the key grip or something. But
with speaking lines assigned to him, no way!
