I am not sure if this has ever been addressed, but I find it strange that the Taylor family never said a table prayer before eating. Not even when the visiting minister dined with them. Prayer was mentioned in a number of episodes. i.e., Opie said his prayers in the very first episode and several other times he told Andy that he had said his prayers, Aunt Bee said she was praying for Otis, and the minister of All Saints Church said that he should perhaps pray more when the decision had to be made between choir robes and fixing the leaning church. In the Walton's the family always said a prayer, and in Little House on the Prairie they often showed praying, so I am just wondering why the writers never included this in Mayberry? Does anyone have any thoughts on this that might enlighten me?
