If Mayberry were set in the 21st century, we would not have one of our most beloved episodes of TAGS, "Man in a Hurry"! Malcolm Tucker would certainly have had one of those GPS systems inside his fancy car, and the car company would have pinpointed his location immediately and had a tow truck sent right to the spot. Even lacking that, he would have just pulled out his cell phone and called Triple A. No need to walk into town, no need to have a local service his car, no need to wait for the Mendlebright sisters to get off the party line, nothing at all to keep Mr. Tucker waiting on Andy's front porch the whole afternoon. Oh, it's all too horrible to imagine!! How thankful I am that TAGS was set in a simpler time!
