I agree with Doug. I always liked Alberta Nelson too. I believe she showed up
in Mayberry RFD or Gomer Pyle USMC at least once. Years ago after my name came
up in a local column I got a call from some airline pilots who were stumped
over her name; that's when I realized that Mayberry is everywhere!! Anyway, I
too often wondered why Goober wasn't given a permanent girlfriend; he was so
sweet and loving.
