I know I have been posting some rather lengthy messages lately, but I hope you will bear with me for one more time. I would like to share some limericks I wrote about our wonderful people of Mayberry.
Mayberry Limericks There once was a sheriff named Andy Who enforced the laws fine and dandy He never wore a gun But the crooks still did run And with the girls he proved to be handy. There once was a deputy named Fife Who avoided making Thelma Lou his wife His body was thin He wore a badge made of tin And he stayed single for most of his life. There once was boy with red hair Who never cheated and always played fair With a name like Opie Some called him dopey And he once fed a tired old mare. There once was a peddler named Bert Who walked the streets till he hurt He hated doorbells And the stuff that he sells, With his prices as cheap as dirt. There once was a Goober selling gas In school he was last in his class He wore out of date clothes Dispensed air from a hose And frightened away every young lass There once was a gal named Elinore Who worked at the Walker Drugstore She could sell you a cone Pills to strengthen your bones Knew you were there by the bell on the door. There once a man named Ernest T Who was as crazy as one could be Breaking store windows with rocks Seldom changing his socks Chinning himself on the branch of a tree. There once was a gal named Aunt Bee Who raised both Opie and Andy She’d cook and she’d clean Never once getting mean Helping others and always for free. There once was an Otis who drank He had no money left in the bank His wife found him out And started to shout So he locked himself up in the tank. Kenneth G.
