As Gomer would say, "Surprise, surprise, surprise." Imagine my surprise when I
went to the mail and got a package from Amazon. Com. My son, daughter-in-law
and two beautiful grandkids gave me a clock for Christmas that I really wanted.
They said they had something else for me but forgot to bring it up the day we
celebrated. The next week, I got my Andy DVD's in the mail and couldn't have
been more pleased. I will bring in the New Year watching them tonight. Emmett
has a great idea we need to encourage everyone to buy them. Is there an email
address we could write thanking them for the first season and telling them how
forward we are looking to the rest of the seasons? Here's wishing everyone on
the digest and their families a Happy, Healthy 2005. All the best, Skippy
a.k.a. Cathy, one of Mayberry's Fun Girls in Ohio.

Re: "...escorting between them, our own Bert Wheeler (Stanley Holloway)"
That's Sterling Holloway! But seriously, that's an interesting story.
I wonder why those three actors were in the Sears, Roebuck buying a
piece of hardware. Curious, curious.
That's a beautiful area you're in there. I love southern California.
In fact, am being transferred there next June with my job. I'll be at
Point Mugu Naval Air Weapons Station up above Malibu. Looking forward
to spending many exciting hours poring over LA and looking at TAGS
sites.
I'm so excited I can't hardly stand it!

Hey everyone and Happy New Year. Can't believe it's already 2005!!!!!!
Anyway, I just wanted to point out something I hadn't noticed until I
watched the DVD's last night the episode The Manhunt!!! When Andy and Opie
are fishing and Andy is putting the ham on the hook you can see that Andy's
pants legs are rolled up past his knees. Has anyone else noticed this
before. It just threw me off guard because after watching that episode a
million times that is the first time I had noticed this. I guess it is just
the quality of the DVD's that made it finally stand out to me. If you
haven't noticed it, watch the episode and see it for yourself.

Hey everybody. Hope everyone had a GREAT Christmas. I too received the
first season of Andy for Christmas and boy was I excited. My wife and I
decided to only exchange one gift this year and she got me exactly what
I wanted (Andy DVD's). I was watching the episode with Cousin Virgil
yesterday on our local station and was wondering something. When Andy
and Barney back track to find Virgil they came up behind him as if he
was walking away from Mayberry. Looks like to me that they should have
run into him walking towards him. I don't understand that unless Virgil
was just plain lost. Wonder what causes that? Another thing when Vigil
dumped the MEAT into Andy's lap, I know he had to be covered with juices
from the MEAT, yet when they were seeing the boys out the door Andy's
had on a clean uniform. Now if Andy had of changed, wouldn't he have
put on some regular clothes and not a clean uniform, because it looked
like Andy was home for the day after work? Just noticing some strange
goings on here. Happy TAGS New Year to everyone. Horatio (Kevin)

Here's a little quiz that might be fun for TAGS fans:
Besides his uniform shirt, pants, dress belt and shoes, what type of police
equipment does BARNEY carry on him. I have come up with 14 items. See if you
can get all 14 and I'll list them on a future posting.

Previously, I had posted a message seeing how many police equipment items
BARNEY carried other than his uniform. This is what I've been able to come up
with:
1. Cap with badge
2. Badge (shirt)
3. Notebook
4. Ticket book
5. Pencil or as BARNEY would say, "PENNNSEAL!"
6. Gun Belt
7. Holster
8. Gun
9. Bullet
10. Whistle (BARNEY didn't charge for replacing the pea)
11. Tie
12. Tie Clip
13. Flashlight
14. Handcuffs
Can anyone thing of anything else?

While watching the old Jimmy Stewart classic "Harvey", I thought one of the
characters looked familiar. Turned out to be our old friend Roger Hanover,
which was played by Morris Ford. In Harvey, he appeared as a taxi driver at
the end of the movie. Also in the movie was another Mayberry citizen, Mr.
Boone, and he was ill tempered as usual.

I doubt if this will post in time to help anyone but just in case, I
just noticed in my local TV listings that the recent Mayberry reunion
show is on our CBS Affiliate at 8:00 PM this evening (Saturday, New
year's Day).
Clay..nice story about your TAGS sighting. I think you mean Sterling
Holloway. Aka Bert Miller, right? Hard to keep all those names
straight.
Would have been great, if he had come up to you and said..."Excuse me
young man, but can you tell me if this store sells such a thing and
Hunny-scented air freshener? If not, my friends and I shall go on to
the next store. Thank you, and have a fine time on this blustery day."
Now ole Sterling...he was really a "Trained Voice"
Me..I'm just an Untrained Voice
