I just thought of something that *might* be fun.
How about a "Reality" show where folks come into a little town and have
to interact with the folks that live in that town....except the folks
would be Barney (David Browning), Otis (Ken Junkin), Floyd (me), Ernest
T. (Phil Lee), Howard (Jeff Branch), Goober (Tim Pettigrew), Opie
(Jamie Sullivan) and any other Mayberry tribute aritist we can round up.
I think it would be fun to see how a "normal" person reacts to a town of
people that look and act like Mayberry folks. It would at least be a
funny Candid Camera type thing. I know it would be fun for me to drive
up to a town for a tank of gas and have "Goober" come walking out to
pump the gas....then see Opie ride by on his bike. Maybe then have
Floyd stop by for a bottle of Nectarie Crush. After I fill up I head on
into town to see Howard and Otis sitting outside the courthouse talking.
Ha ha..... Maybe you'd even spot Ernest T throwing a rock or singing to
Charlene.
Just the thought brings a smile to my face. Course...that DOES sound a
lot like Mayberry Days in Mt. Airy. The only difference would be that
the folks wouldn't KNOW they were heading for Mayberry.....like a
Twlight Zone or something.

Thank-you, thank-you, thank-you to Harriet, the chicken thief. You took the
words right out of my mouth. This is the first time I have posted anything, but
it took this silly "movie" talk for me to do it. As Harriet said, how and why
would you mess with perfection ? I cannot see anyone, I don't care who it is,
replacing our beloved Mayberry friends. Can anyone out there imagine redoing
our favorite episodes, such as Opie, the Birdman or Man in a Hurry? Of course
not, it would sicken us ! Mayberry lives in us, even without television. Most
of us can close our eyes and see our favorite moments or an entire episode for
that matter ! I wouldn't want ANYTHING interfere with that.So let's move on and
talk about Nashville, or this years Mayberry Days, just anything except this
"reality" movie. If you give Harriett a rude, add another one for me. Butch

Harriet, the chicken thief, said it best. You can't go home again. It's nice
to fantasize about a remake of TAGS, and suggest a cast and story lines. But,
face it, you have the best in your TV Land reruns and DVDs and video tapes.
The show as we know it was as close to perfect as a sitcom gets. Let's be
happy with that.

If a person dislikes most modern tv, why would a person choose a hobby that
made her have to watch television?
Harriette said she needed to keep in contact with modern tv
programs because of her hobby. There are word puzzles that rely manily on
regular words. But maybe I misunderstood.
Not being rude, just being curious.

I have certainly enjoyed all the creative suggestions and fun ideas for
the imaginary remake of "The Andy Griffith Show." Wish everyone would
take these fun posts in the spirit in which they are meant to be
enjoyed!

I was watching the episode of Harry who was a jinx. At the dance, a little boy
was standing in the background in full western garb. A man darted out and
grabbed him and carried him back out of sight. The man looked a lot like Martin
Sheen who would have been in his late 20s at the time; he's 65 now. Then again,
maybe it wasn't him.
Any trained eyes around to confirm or deny??

>>>I went back to the Inspector episode and I heard the car horn also but I
also noticed a few minutes later when Mr Brady drives up he is honking his
horn and it sounds exactly like the one heard earlier....
Since you're checking this scene out, take a good look behind the bushes in
the distance. Mr. Brady's car is parked back there the whole time.

Hi Fellow Mayberrians!
It is hard to believe that I am already planning for Mayberry Days. You'd
think I would learn to do this stuff in Jan but I was making my hotel
reservations yesterday and of course I ran into the problem of finding a
room. I was able to get a room at the Comfort Inn but it was a smoking room
and my husband and I don't smoke and the smell really bothers me. If anyone
knows of another hotel where I can get a room or if later on you decide to
cancel please let me know. We are planning on coming in on Thursday Sept 22
and staying 3 nights. This is me and my husbands annual getaway and what
better way to spend a few relaxing days than in Mayberry!

Hey Folks,
I am offering my collection of the 8 Andy Griffith Show Hamilton plates for
sale. Each of these plates has been personally signed by the artist, Robert
Tanenbaum. The asking price is $350 and that includes shipping and insurance.
I do not have the original packing materials but all of the plates are in
great shape with no chips or cracks.
If you are interested please email me at:

I agree with Mike Eury, a new series or a Mayberry movie would need to be an
all new
cast and an all new show/movie. I feel that it needs to be a penetration of the
past and present. But I believe that Don And Andy should be in it. I agree that
Phill "Earnest
T" Fox should be in it but that his role be somewhat different, maybe he
reformed, or maybe he's an off spring with his own vission of how Earnest
should behave in todays mixed up society. A new movie should be very funny and
at the same time deliver a very strong message to the audience. I think that a
movie should be produced and maybe later a new series could be written from the
basics of the movie.
Consider the series Bonanza 2nd generation. It was produced with a different
cast
but they used the same old scripts. It's like watching re runs. New scripts /new
stories would had made it much more interesting.
