The date is now rumored to be May 24th. They made a mistake
originally. Below is the information.
--Allan
Now we have word from industry sources that /The Andy Griffith Show -
The Complete 2nd Season/ is being readied now for a *Mid-2005* release,
with the date currently pencilled in (and still very subject to change!)
being May 24th. Chalk this one up to the "rumor" column for now, but
stay tuned and we'll fill you in on the details once the studio gets
everything finalized.
*UPDATE:* Our date previouly posted this morning - June 14th - was
incorrect; that was the date given for /Walker, Texas Ranger/ DVDs
<http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=2930>. The May 24th
date is the one which should have been posted for /The Andy Griffith
Show - The Complete 2nd Season/. TVShowsOnDVD regrets the error.

One never knows when he'll run into Andy & Barney! My younger son was
recently promoted to the position of
Deputy District Attorney in a large judicial district west of Denver, one of
the largest in the state. Two days ago he was giving Mom & Pop the grand
tour of the District Attorney's Offices, a large multi-floored building with
rows upon rows of offices for numerous defenders of the law. I was trailing
along behind the welcoming party, tripping down the hall as my curious
nature soaked in every detail of this grand complex. As we passed one
office, something wonderfully familiar caught my eye. There, sitting
against a bookend on an attorney's desk, was a plaque containing large
images of Andy & Barney. Quickly I brought the entourage to a halt and
called attention to this surprising discovery in the D.A.'s office. My son
replied in a matter-of-fact way, "Andy & Barney are passed around to those
who've earned the 'Mighty Fine Deputy Award' for accomplishing something
pretty special in the district." I was nearly speechless, but managed to
mutter something like, "Well, isn't that somethin'," while grinning ear to
ear with proud satisfaction. Not only was my son working as a "Bloodhound
of the Law, Sniffin' out Crime one Step at a Time," but he was doing it with
the encouragement of Mayberry's famous Sheriff and persistent Deputy! All
across the country, and even in the big cities too, Mayberry has become
universal. There is no other Sheriff or Deputy better known -- anywhere!
Makes a body swell with pride!

Let's see, June 14 for the 2nd season release. I sure hope that isn't
Founder's Day. I'm supposed to be guarding the cannon all day.

I am just like Lydia. I am shy. I am real, real shy. A
gal of few words. You might say I am a master of the understatement. Or I'm
perhaps too slow to muster up the
proper course of action in record time. You pick the definition. I won't
argue. Because I hate to argue. I don't
mind a civil disagreement every now and then. But I hate to
argue.

Which Mayberry character am I like?
I am just like Lydia. I am shy. I am real, real shy. A gal
of few words. You might say I am the mistress of the understatement. You
could also say I am merely too slow
witted to jump in with the proper course of action. Your
choice. Define me as you will. Because I hate to argue.
I don't mind a civil disagreement every now and then. But
I hate to argue.
signed, Lydia, the girl who hates to see a bare head of hair. I don't mind
seeing a head with a hat on it or a pair
of sunglasses on top. But I head seeing an unclothed head
of hair.

Well folks, winter has come back to Western NY and I'm feeling lower than a
snake's belly. But, as Andy says, when you feel sad you have to shoot for the
good feeling so I guess I'll go clean the garage (house). You know, the bigger
you get, the tireder you get.
>>>2) In the past I have slipped up with the "Barney Low-Budget Date" (going
>>>for the special instead of soap AND Salad.>>>
I sure am sorry to hear that you feed your wife soap. Maybe that's why she's
so bubbly. (Sorry, couldn't resist.)
I'm awfully happy about the news of the Season 2 release. I believe that'll
keep me going for the next few months. Thanks to all who pass the glad tidings
on.
Carol, in cold, snowy western NY.

Last week there was an editorial in our hometown newspaper describing the
ever-rising taxes we New Yorkers have to pay. (Actually, I'm native
Pennsylvanian, but that's another story). I was very interested to read that
the writer compared NY with North Carolina, land of low taxes and good jobs.
The tarheels pay about $1.70 for a gallon of gas while we pay about $2.10,
depending on how many times the hose goes ding. We even have to pay for the
air now too. I think water is still free. My husband has about 10 years to go
before retirement but I am beginning to think North Carolina would be the place
to retire. Just one thing, how do you native southerners feel about us
northerners coming south. We'd try to act like somebody.
Carol, from the land of back-breaking taxes and indifferent politicians
