Did anyone else hear Conan O' Brien mention that he watched TAGS and about the
time he interviewed Don Knotts?

Hi Y'all! I've not posted to the board in a month of Sundays, I know. But,
here I am now! It's me, it's me, it's Georgia G.
Someone may have mentioned this before, but this came to my mind ... in the
episode of "Those Gossiping Men", Barney wonders why a shoe salesman from New
York would be in Mayberry. After all, New York is 900 miles from Mayberry!

I had always heard Barney use the name Bernard P. Fife. However, in the
episode where Andy and Barney have a high school reunion, they are looking
through the yearbook and it denotes Bernard Milton Fife beside his
picture. Anyone else notice the inconsistency in the middle name?

>>>And of course there had to be a North Pole reference to Barney when he
was Santa at Christmas in the jailhouse. I think when they mentioned his
rowdy reindeer in the back.
>>>

While looking at the table of food, Barney says to Ellie, "That trip down
from the North Pole made me a lot hungrier than I thought. I'd like to have
another wing, if you've got one." Odd that he would ask for "another wing."
How many wings did he think that turkey had, anyway? Seems to me he should
have requested "the other wing."

>>>Don't mean to be picky, but I believe Barney's line was "He's heading to
Canada". Don't think Otis ever got there in the directions though.
>>>

At the risk of being even obtuser, Barney's exact line was "He's makin' for
Canada!"

Good observations about Northern references on TAGS. Of course I am happy
they've referenced Texas on TAGS. I can think of two occasions, Kievy
Hazelton's song about Texarkana and Opie's young runaway friend Tex. Although
Tex also considered Montana as a possible destination.

I don't mean to be obtuse, either. Or facitious. But I think the phrase
was, "He's makin' for Canada." I hope this doesn't label me as having a
'correction compelsion'.

During the interview with Ann Bird tonight there was mention of a police
department and unfortunately they referred to it as "Mayberry" and the
sheriff should be a "Barney Fife".
I take offense at that...Barn and Goob just caught the gang with the
lightbulbs on the roof trick. Haha. Oops old Barn just fired the "heater"
again..I
don't know how many times he just missed that foot.

*Season 2 NEWS!!!
* Paramount has now offiicially announced that the Complete Second
Season of TAGS will be released on DVD May 24, 2005. The list price will
probably be approximately the same as for the Complete First Season
(about $40). There are expected to be some special features with the new
release, possibly including some of the original sponsor commercials
featuring the show's stars.

TAGSRWC Weaver's Dept. Store <http://www.weaversdepartmentstore.com/>
hopes to be able to offer the Second Season at about 20% off the list
price. Weaver's <http://www.weaversdepartmentstore.com/> will begin
taking pre-orders on May 1. Our pre-orders will ship out on the May 24
release date. Weaver's <http://www.weaversdepartmentstore.com/> also
will have some exclusive Combo offers for the DVD set and other Mayberry
merchandise.

Paramount has also announced that it plans to release the Complete Third
Season this fall and the Complete Fourth Season before the end of the
year. Tentative dates for the those releases likely will be announced
before Memorial Day.

Tonight I was watching a news program where Scott Peterson's sister was
doing an interview talking about her new book. She stated that during the
investigation into Lacy Peterson's muder trial, Scott Peterson's mother said
the
case must have been investigated by the Mayberry Police Department, because the

cops were acting like a bunch of Barney Fife's. Well, looks like Barney got
his man, and he didn't even use Judo (boy, is Professor Matsomoto relieved).
 I'd say that's a successful ending to A Manhunt.

Regarding references from the north. In the pickle story, Barney sends a jar of
pickles way up north to Portland, Oregon, I believe. Also, in one episode where
Otis pretends to be asleep Barney is trying to find out how to get to a still
and Otis sends him up through Ohio. Also, the minster visited when New York,
Clara and Aunt Bee couldn't decide if they should wear earings to church. And
then there was the shoe salesman from Manhattan Shoe Company in "Those Gossipin
Men." In return to Mayberry, I believe Opie was working at a newspaper in
Cleveland or else Andy was working there. Where's my mind? I can't remember
this stuff lately. I guess I need to put more Mayberry in my life.
My sympathies to Allan and his family on the loss of his Granny. Allan and Jan,
thanks for keeping up these boards. You're family is in my prayers. Cathy

The farthest south might have been when Andy was offered a job in South America
(unless, of course you count the Great Dismal Swamp). And he didn't even know
a word of South American. And Barney mentions Africa when he was busy
gossiping about something and Andy asked him what the National Geographic
article was on. I always loved that bit of dialogue. Just wish I could
remember it all. "Africa. It was on Africa."
Andy was in France during the war. Barney was across the big pond - on Staten
Island. But lets not talk about that. England and Ireland were mentioned when
Ernest T. and Malcolm were about to have their little dust-up. Anywhere else
mentioned?
Carol, crying again about all our snow and cold. 17 degrees right now with
about a foot of snow on the ground. Sorry Phoenix.

Kind behind the eyes.

How about when Floyd mentioned the Dingo Dog is indigenous to
Australia? Would that be the furtherest south?

To all of you in or near the up-state of South Carolina, check to events
calendar on Mayberry.com. The Dillards are coming to Walhalla, SC on April
23.
We ordered our tickets last night on line and can't wait to see them.
Hopefully, a lot of WBMUTBB folks will be there. if any one decides to go,
give
us a yell.

Got time to breath, got time for music.
