Lydia, the story just wasn't funny without knowing who Al Becker is. You know
the way he talks and the stuff he says, when that collie came in .... oh, never
mind.

Hey did you happen to see when David Browning, Allan Newsome and Tim
Pettigrew re-enacted that during Mayberry Days in 2004? They were
absolutely wonderful!!!! It was just like being there in Mayberry and
seeing it happen in real life. I can't get over how great they are at
portraying those characters. I sure do hope they do something like that
this year. If they do, I tell ya that's something you don't want to miss!!!
Oh by the way, I tried out the saying "bread and butter" on my husband last
night while we were walking into a store. He looked at me and said "what
did you say, bread and butter???" I told him why you were supposed to say
it and he just said "well that's new one, I've never heard that." I think
he thought I was a NUT!
Have a Mayberry kind of day,

We were watching the Count IzVantelecky (sp) episode yesterday and Floyd
absolutely cracked me up. When Barney, Floyd and Goober were in the back
room of the courthouse and Floyd told Barney he could see the Count,
Floyd's mannerisms were hilarious. He was truly a master wasn't he!! It
seems I remember Andy and Ron Howard talking in one of the reunion shows
about how Floyd could crack them up. I couldn't agree more!

I imagine either Al Becker was bald or ran around unshaven most of the time so
whatever look the collie gave him might be interpreted in a hilarious way by an
onlooker. Have you seen the smiles on that dog named Winn Dixie - that's a
real hoot too!

When Opie and his friends are sitting around eating the apples the new kid
coerced them into stealing, the new kid finishes his apple and says "Apple
core!!"
Someone replies "Baltimore!!" He is the asked "Who's your friend?"
Then whoever they name better run because he is now the target for the
thrown apple core.
I got many bruise from crabapples on that one.

I met Rodney Dillard in Branson, Missouri where he was performing with the Jim
Stafford show. He was extremely nice. We talked for a little while about Andy
Griffith and had our picture taken together. That's the closest I've ever been
to Mayberry!

Ellie Walker was my favorite of Andy's lady friends. She was pretty, as
well as spunky and could stand up to him. To me they had much more
on-screen chemistry than Andy and Helen.
Does anyone know why she left the show?
