I was watching the Loony Tunes on Boomerang (a cartoon network) and they were
showing a cartoon about critters in the zoo and in it two panthers are paceing
back and forth in their cage passing a pole in the middle of the cage and they
would say "bread an butter" ,now after all these years I know why the writers
wrote that years ago <grin>

Otis appears in only two color episodes: Otis the Artist, in which Warren
suggests that he take up mosaics, and Otis the Deputy, in which he "helps"
Howard Sprague rescue Andy from two bank robbers who are holding him in the
old Carson shack.

TAGS was sponsored by General Foods, makers of Jell-O, Sanka, Post cereals,
and many other fine products. As the story goes, there was an executive at
GF who had a drinking problem, and he didn't think it was funny to see drunk
people on TV, no matter how harmless and lovable they were. He forced the
producers to eliminate Otis from The Show.

A couple days ago I called our nearest WalMart(about an hour away) to
see if they had the elusive sleepwear everyone is searching for. I
asked for the men's dept. and asked them to check for them-the result
was a no. Well, today I happened to be heading that way so I swung in
for a looksee, and sure enuf, I found 6 pair just waiting for me to find
them! Guess what I'm sleeping in tonight??

Yes Bee, I don't even have to look that one up. He starred in the
Episode where Warren tried to teach him the great art or Mosaic's and he
created a darling cow picture that he presented to Andy.

He did appear in color but not often. In one episode he took an art class and
made an awful
tile painting of a cow. In another episode he's involved in a hostage drama
with Andy and Howard
Spraque.

Hey all,

The reference to A Face In The Crowd made me wonder if I've ever shared with
everyone that my mom got to watch them making a few scenes in that movie.
Part of it was filmed just 12 miles from where she lived at the time and she
and several other folks would go over and watch them shooting. That must
have been extra good!

Lots of luck to you and yours,
Vicki Pillow

"Did Otis appear just appear in the black and white shows only?"

I remember him being in 2 color episodes. One was about Warren trying to
rehabilitate him by having him make mosaics as a hobby instead of drinking.
Otis ended up making a mosaic of a cow and giving it to Andy. The other
episode was the one where Andy is looking for two crooks hiding out in an old
cabin. The crooks capture Andy. Otis and Howard try to rescue him, but Howard
ends up getting captured, too and Otis ends up with a snootful. I think that
was the last episode that Otis was in.

No time to check, but Weaver's sold them in the past. I've got the other
one too - "I'd Rather Be Fishin' With Andy and Opie" as well as the "I'd
Rather Be Watching TAGS" Got 'em right from Weavers when I bought my
church key with the striped umbrella on it (dollar and a quarter)
