The correspondence regarding the flue vs. flu reminds me of a limerick:

A flea and a fly were in a flue.
They were not sure what they were to do.
"Let us fly," said the flea.
"Let us flee," said the fly.
So they flew through a hole in the flue.

Yes, Google can save many miles on the trained noticer.

Here's something you may have discussed before I joined: I was watching
my Season 1 DVD's, Episode 2, "The Manhunt." I have never before noticed
that at the beginning when Andy and Opie are fishing in the boat that
starts to sink, Andy is wearing his uniform but has hit pants legs
rolled up. Did he have a (Warren-like?) premonition that it was going to
start sinking? Or just for comfort? So I started thinking if Andy ever
wore shorts (not that I remember) or ever appeared in anything other
than long pants. I remember when he and Barney and Gomer were waiting to
go the Chamber of Commerce dance ("Gomer, don't over-expect"), Aunt Bee
was still pressing his suit pants resulting in "hot knees." Also, once
in the jail overnight with Otis, Andy attends to Otis's request wearing
only his boxers. Are there others?

Mark in Indiana

"I wonder what causes that."

It would be trouble enough having problems with your chimney, but being sick
and achy at the same time - now that's bad!

For the flu, I've found it best to slip into something comfortable (like TAGS
sleep pants and a bed jacket) tuck yourself in and try to take a nap. For the
flue - call the man.

I was wondering? There are several episodes with Howard practically
having to beg to join the group. Tonight it is the Lodge, then later the
bowling team & the fishing tournament. Yet Goober is readily accepted in
all of these. I give Goober the edge in fishing & bowling, but at the
Lodge?

His cousin Gomer barely seemed to fit into Mayberry. Everyone liked him,
but it seemed like he spent most nights alone in his room back of
Wally's. He didn't seem comfortable in crowds like the Chamber of
Commerce dance. Even Goober, at first was a bit like that.

Nothing against Goober really, but H Sprague jsut seems more the type to
fit into groups like this than Goober.

Also in the first Howard episodes his mama wouldn't let go. Then all of
a sudden, whoosh! Howard was out & about with little mention of his
mother until the episode where she gets married & Howard has his
bachelor pad.

I guess I am saying that as much as I like Goober, I preferred Howard
Sprague. Do you agree or disagree?

Marie
PS I ddin't mean to start a whole moulage the other day with my mention
of wimpy men. maybe I should have said they were "Creampuffs" all too
shy to speak to women until encouraged by Andy.

This made me laugh - I have to agree. I have been holding back on
posting my own sleep pants post but Freddie just pushed me over!

Now, don't ask me how I know this, but Star Wars and Star Trek geeks
have a Pants Game they play and no one knows how it got started, but
they substitute the word "pants" into various lines of movie dialogue.
I am sure sometimes the outcome is a bit, er, questionable, but the
ones I have read are quite funny. It might be fun to insert the words
"sleep pants" into various lines of TAGS dialogue!

Does anyone know if Parley Baer (Mayor Stoner) of TAGS, and Max Baer, Jr.
(Jethro Bodine) of The Beverly Hillbillies are related in some way?

Thanks, Jim
