There's a photograph of Barney in his salt and pepper with his hat on looking
slightly "up" to the camera that I've seen many times. (a real close up shot)
He has a little hint of a smile. I've seen it on the internet, but everyone I
find is a tiny size.
I was wondering, does anyone know where I can get a full size good quality
photo of it, or a website that has a very large file of this particular photo?

thanks!

Ok, I'm a picky and little things bother me at times, but didn't Gomer say
Goober's boat could do 80?? I could be wrong, I've been wrong before??

Why was Goober missing from the Courthouse discussion? Well, my theory is
this: They taped it on a Sunday afternoon and Goober was out on the lake in
his boat with his mother. Remember that thing could do 60. And that's fast
on water.

What if there was a Mayberry Bar Exam? Passing it would probably earn you
the title of "Aluminum Siding Salesman" or "Baseball Umpire," or brilliant
barrister or something like that. Potential questions would probably be
"What's
a 'vag' charge?" or What is the code enforcment number for an illegal
u-turn? What license does the Green River ordinance require? What is a
moulage?

Where was Howard's Mother in episode Episode 233 (231)? Surely she
wouldn't miss her own son's wedding.

Then in* *Episode 246 (245): The Wedding she goes off & marries. I am
thinking maybe this one was filmed firts but there are more than 10
episodes between them so probably not. Maybe Mabel Albertson just wasn't
available that day that they filmed Howard & Milly going off to marry?
They went over a year without showing her according to:

What would be the regulation about using foreign coins in Mr. Foley's gum
machines? Foley has no use for rubles, kopecks and other non-US currencies.
The Bank of Mayberry is at a loss for an answer.

"The other night I had gotten a nasty cut from trying to hurry cutting up
meat."

Please be careful cutting meat, it isn't as easy as Gomer thinks it is. Also,
be careful who you tell about the cut. Aunt Bee and Emma will gossip all over
town and the next thing you know, people will think you're gone!

I don't recall seeing it in the last two issues of The Bulletin
Board, but this morning's Johnson City Press reports that 70 year old
Bob Denver is recovering from quadruple bypass surgery. While it
doesn't say when he had the surgery, Denver's agent reported it to
the press on Wednesday, saying that he had surgery after a recent
checkup.

I've known other people who felt fine, and went for their annual
physical and ended up having immediate surgery.

Jim

I hope all turns out well for Gilligan. Speaking of castaways, I met
Skipper Alan Hale when he owned his Lobster Barrel restaurant in Los
Angeles. I was just a squirt then but seeing him in his skipper clothes, he
shook my hand & called me "little buddy".....Pretty cool! There's more to
this but I don't think I want to clog up anymore space! A.A. - MPk.

Did'ja ever have one of those Fridays? You've planned out a whole weekend
schedule… and then the morning mail arrives… with my TAGS Season 2 DVDs,
four
days early! Now I have to reschedule my Saturday and Sunday so I can watch
'em. Dag'nabbit.

But seriously… I've already popped them into the DVD player, and these DVDs
are fantastic! The episodes are again complete, looking like new, transferred
from restored 35mm library masters at Paramount.

But the best highlight is… the sponsor commercials! Of the 31 episodes, 30
General Foods commercials are included as bonus extras ("The Merchant of
Mayberry" does not have one). Each commercial runs between 45 seconds to 1
minute,
and is presented as an additional epilogue, referencing plot or characters
from each episode. In a few cases, episode guest actors join the main cast to
sell the products… Sue Ane Langdon, Hal Smith, Jack Prince, Julie Adams,
Roger
Til and even 'the Gordon Brothers.' The best one is the "The Bookie Barber"
Sanka commercial, with Sheldon Leonard reprising his JACK BENNY racetrack tout
character. Each segment ends with Andy breaking the fourth wall, asking the
audience to buy the product, and closing with "'Preciate it, and goodnight!"
The commercial segments are also from restored 35mm library materials. They
look as good as the episodes themselves.

You will not be disappointed!

Brent

Does Floyd's striped barber pole revolve or just stay still? I got a box of
Good n' Plenty riding on this one. (Lavon is a good name for old lady
Kelsey!) (Two B/W movies to check out: Detective Story w/Kirk Douglas and
Fail Safe w/Henry Fonda.) A.A. - MPk.

In the last few weeks, we have watched my daughter's current favorite movie
"Mary Poppins" probably half a dozen times. There are a number of TAGS cast
members in this film, including:

Reta Shaw (Eleanora Poultice and Big Maude on TAGS / one of the domestics in
MP)
Arthur Malet (vagrant Warren arrests in "Lost and Found" / Mr. Dawes. Jr)
Dal McKennon (sculptor Brian Jackson in "The Statue" / voice of the fox)
and J. Pat O'Malley (Mr. Fields in "Up in Barney's Room" / voices of various
characters).

Anyway, the other day we noticed a young red-haired boy in one scene who
looked an awful lot like Ronny Howard. Those of you who have this movie at
home, take a close look at the beginning of the scene where Bert is making
chalk drawings on the sidewalk, and see if you think it might be him.

As far as I know Ronny was not working on any Disney projects at the time
(1964 -- but Clint worked on Winnie the Pooh and The Jungle Book not long
after that) but who knows, maybe he happened to be at the studio for a day
and they asked him to be an extra.

Nice post-script Paul. Took a few minutes to sink in! RE: Mary Poppins, I
got a picture in a Beatle book somewhere that shows Dick Van Dyke, in his
chiminey sweep duds talking with Paul McCartney. Work on Mary Poppins & a
Hard Day's Night overlapped each other and Van Dyke just walked over to
where they were filming a Beatle scene. Poppins was the 1st feature movie
that I ever saw. I love the Step in Time stuff on the roof tops. (---had
a crush on Mary Poppins too. Sigh....) A.A. - MPk.
