No, take up the space, we'd love to hear it! Remember, Alan Hale guested on
TAGS and called Barney "little buddy" *before* he ever said that to Gilligan!

(Here's the rest, Dixon!) ....when Alan Hale was at his restaurant he was
pretty much in his skipper mode. During dinner time he'd be inside greeting
people and going to various tables because the diners/customers really
digged the skipper. Hearty laugh, always smilin', big and rugged. Charming
is a good word for him. As it got later at night he would go outside and
thank exiting customers for coming by and to hope to see them again. It
didn't matter that I was a kid, he saw me looking his way and when I finally
got up some nerve to approach him, he stuck out that big hand and shook mine
while calling me "little buddy." Mega-cool! This was right outside the
front door so if you wanted to converse, you'd be able to hear yourself.(It
was noisy inside) I remember calling him "sir" and "skipper" and how much I
liked him and his dad in the movies and TV. He really smiled big when I
mentioned his dad. The rest of my family was sort of milling about, waiting
for the car to be brought up front by the valet, when the skipper asked me
who this "pretty gal" was. I introduced my mom to Mr. Hale, and here's the
best part: He hefted her up Big Jeff style, didn't spin her, just hefted
her up and said, "Well, hello there lil' darling!" CLASSIC! All mom could
do was squeal and giggle. GREAT MOMENT! Last I saw of him was when I was
in the car looking thru the window. He saw me waving good-bye and he waved
back. He smiled and gave me a wink just before we pulled away from the
curb. ----I know that this might be of no importance to anyone but it was a
really big thing to a kid from Monterey Park. As far as I'm concerned, Alan
Hale will always be A-OK in my book! A.A. - MPk.

Marie, that is weird that Howard's mother didn't go along with them on
the train for Howard's wedding and no one explained why. She was such a
mother hen and kept him tied to her apron strings. It looks like the
writers would have known how people would have wondered about it.

I never knew there was a TAGS Connection to Seinfeld but now I do.
Clint Howard plays a small part as a serial killer (The Smog Strangler) in
4th season premier episode. I just got the DVD set earlier this week and
had seen this episode before on TV but never knew it was Clint until I
started watching the special features on the DVD yesterday.
Boy to think, little Leon went on to a life of crime. What a shame. lol

Speaking of DVD's I thought TAGS wasn't going to be released till May 24th.
How did someone get it early?

Dapper Dan
Still waiting on my Season 2 TAGS DVD's

My Mayberry friends, I received this e-mail from David Morris this
evening. David is our "Ernest T's" son. It is with my head bowed that I
share his note with you.

--------------------

Dear friends,
I have extremely sad news to report of my dear father, Howard, who
suddenly passed away this afternoon (May 21, 2005).

He was without a doubt /the/ most amazing father.

In show business, Howard Morris "the star" was one in a trillion, a true
genius, and an entertainment dynamo. So many "greats" in this business
followed his career with incredible admiration and respect. I for one am
one of his biggest fans!

/The Andy Griffith Show/ became a major part of my father's life. He
appeared in only five episodes. Regardless, he made a permanent
impression on so many people, and was always amazed by and grateful for
all of the love and support his fans gave to him.

I shared with Howard every bit of mail that came in, so I know firsthand
how important your cards, emails, and gifts were to him over the years.

All I can really say now is that I miss him beyond words.

Thank you for being there!

Sincerely,
/David Morris
