Why does Paramount own TAGS & Warner Bros. Mayberry RFD? Who owns Gomer
Pyle, USMC? Weren't they all a part of the same Desilu studio that Ms.
Ball sold to Paramount in summer of 1967? Okay Mayberry RFD was later
than '67 but it should have been a Paramount show, right? Is this why TV
Land isn't airing the reruns of it?

You know, after all the years I asked trivia questions on this board, I
thought I had a good idea when one is pretty hard. However,
congratulations to all those who answered, "A Feud Is A Feud", featuring
a beagle. It shows me that the level of TAGS knowledge here will make
me re-think about what a "hard" question is.

Old Aunt Maria, jump in the fi-ah,
Fire too hot, jump in the pot,
Pot to black, jump in the crack,
Crack to high, jump in the sky,
Sky to blue, jump in canoe,
Canoe too shallow, jump in the tallow,
Tallow too soft, jump in the loft,
Loft to rotten, jump in the cotton,
Cotton so white she stay there all night.

We had a Mayberry Moment yesterday that I wanted to share with all of you. My
darlin' person and I were out shopping yesterday and we pulled up behind a
truck and we were trying to figure out what kind of truck it was because there
was no name on the back of it. We got the chance to go around it and don't you
know it was one of them armored trucks. We looked and listened to see if
Barney was yelling and looking through the gun sights, but he wasn't. Dave and
I looked around for Regis, but he must have been off somewhere making up
another sign. We thought about calling up Laura Lee Hobbs to find out if that
was the real truck but didn't get a chance to do that either.

........Barney, you beat everything you know that......................

Well, after I posted this, I did go back and look at that episode. The
structure of the front of the house does look the same, yet it also appears to
be in a different location than the house shown earlier in the episode. Maybe
it's just that the camera is shooting it from a different angle.

I don't know why that should bother me, but it does! Guess it's just a
compelsion on my part.

Now I know that John Masters was more than just the clerk at the
Mayberry Hotel. He moonlighted as a doctor in NYC. Or did he have an
identical cousin ala Patty & Cathy Lane

Olan Soulè played the pediatrician who diagnosed Little Ricky's (Johnny
Paul Jason's) tonsilitis in this classic episode of I Love Lucy.

I usually don't have time to sit around and discuss trivial trivialities, but I
came across something while reading an English novel that answered a Mayberry
question that I have often wondered about. In the episode where Andy and Ron
Bailey, the spoiled rich kid, were fishing, Ron unexpectedly catches the
biggest fish. While taking it off his hook, Andy explains that sometimes he
sits out there half a day without getting a nibble and he then says to Ron,
"You're a better man than I am." I thought that quotation sounded familiar and
always wondered where it came from. It is the last line of Rudyard Kipling's
poem "Gunga Din"."You are a better man than I am, Gunga Din". Apparently it is
a very popular poem for school children in England, and all Englishters are
familiar with the quotation. And now you know the rest of the story.

I mostly agree with ya on the remakes. The remake movie that was done good
with a complete change of cast, was "The Beverly Hillbillies" with
Jim Varney----Jed Clampett
Cloris Leachman---Granny
Diedrich Bader---Jethro
Erika Eleniak-----Elly May
Dabney Coleman---Drysdale
Lily Tomlin----Jane Hathaway.

I would have certainly changed the plot tho, and the 2 characters played by
Rob Schneider and Lea Thompson.

Now if they do a remake on Mayberry, Andy, Barney, Opie, Goober, Gomer, Otis
and some of the others are still around, but who's gonna play Howard, Aunt
Bee, Floyd, Ernest T. and Briscoe, etc.

Now Emmett I dunno if he still around or not

I love Mayberry as much or more than anybody you can find and would LOVE to
see new material.

However, I suppose you could call me a little "set in my ways" in the fact I
want the original characters. This show is the absolute greatest that has
ever graced America's airwaves - or ever will in the future for that matter.
I think "Return to Mayberry" the movie was an excellent way to tie up all
the loose ends and close the door.

Sure - I would love to have "Return to Mayberry - the series of 1 hour
specials" just as much as anyone else...but if that means sacrificing to the
point I would have a new Aunt Bee, Floyd, Ernest T, etc... I would much
rather re-live, through re-runs, the wonderful material that we have right
now!

"It don't get no better than this!"

Chaz
