"Did Leonard Blush ever sing good old 14A?" If he didn't, he should've.
Barney may not have written a poem about Thelma Lou, but he thought she was the
"cats".

Put me in on the Ms. Peggy fanclub too! I always felt the character was the
most compatible of all Andy's girlfriends. Plus she was very easy on the
eyes in Black & White! I hate that she had such a rough time in real life.
Is it just me or did Mayberry have more single people per capita than any
small town in the South?

I think all of the women in Mayberry were great! They had fabulous figures &
back when Tags was made, I assume they were all "natural" beauties before
implants, liposuction etc. They all seemed confident, they had good careers &
did
they own their own homes? If so, what an accomplishment in those days! I too,
would never been happy being strung along like that. What were Barney & Andy &
Howard so afraid of? Emmett was certainly happily married...the only person
who should have been unhappy would be Otis's wife...but then again he did sleep
it off at the jail so he probably was not any trouble at home. I often think
if "the guys" did marry, new story lines would have developed & the show would
have stayed on longer...wishful thinking. Thank God for TVLand & DVD'S!

Andy ever had. Wasn't her last name McMillan though??? See...i'm starting to be
a trained noticer..especially since i know the rules (thanks allan) have a
Mayberry day everyone.

When I find my mind wandering from the lovely thoughts of Mayberry,
here are a few things I do to get back my Mayberry mindset.
Hey Carol: My favorite is "Better phone him Al"
Thank goodness Season 3 will have Howard waving that banana around again!!

I was watching a movie this morning on Turner Classic Movies and Fred
McMurray sang a song called "Who is Sylvia?" I couldn't believe it
because those are the same three words that Leonard Blush sings when
Andy and Barney are listening to the radio and the song is interrupted
because of an important message about a prison escapee. I'm obsessed
with that song because I didn't even know it was for real and I thought
those lyrics were so funny every time I heard them sung on that TAGS
episode. I did see them in print once in the newspaper and I've been on
the case ever since. (Yeah, I could probably just have Googled it).

Big date coming up?
Job interview soon?
Standing before the judge tomorrow?! Well??
Then go to Floyd's TODAY. To get that haircut which just might keep you
outta' the clink, go to Floyd's. To get a haircut which'll land you the job,
get the girl and keep you on the straight and narrow, go to the barber's
barber.
Floyd's Barber Shop, Downtown Mayberry. Closed on Sundays.

TAGS fans,
Just watched* the old Disney movie "Bullwhip Griffin"
and it was like watching an extra episode of TAGS, as
least as far as the cast. I saw Dub Taylor, as well
as Mr. Carter and Mr. Wakefield and Mayor Stoner and
Burt and Mr. Kimball (from "Green Acres", I know he
was on TAGS once, too). Of course, the star is Roddy
McDowell, who did a few stints with Andy in "No Time
for Sergeants". If you like old Disney movies, this
is a fun one.
*Watched is a relative term with me, sometimes. I
mostly listened--occasionally looked up--while drawing
my comic strip for the newspapers. So there may have
been some more characters I didn't happen to see.

This past weekend was an amazing one for me again on the Mayberry Trail. I
traveled solo from Ohio to Indiana to the Bean Blossom Festival on the farm
of the late great bluegrass legend Bill Monroe. The Dillards were performing
there, Rodney and Doug. When I arrived I located their RV bus and proceeded
to knock on the door. Rodney recognized me from all the events that my wife
Marsha and I go to. He invited me in and he and Doug signed several
autographs for me. I recently bought a banjo, but unfortunately I don't have
a
musical bone in my body. Doug proceeded to tune my banjo and even played a
few
tunes on it. I sat in amazement as he played DOUG'S TUNE on my banjo. Then
he
and Rodney both signed it. Their perfermance was amazing at the Bean Blossom
Fest. 3rd Time out and Larry Sparks were also there.
Two nights later my entire family went to New Castle Indiana where they
again performed at a Moose lodge. Again their performance was incredible!
Every year my wife and I attend as many Mayberry events as we can. Each
event to me is like the best Christmas gift ever. All of the mayberry folks
who
were on the show and those of us who are Mayberry groupies I consider lucky
to associate with and be around!
Lots of luck to you and yers! Gomer Says Hey!
