I liked all of Andy's women from Ellie Walker to Helen Crump. They were
all quite pretty, nice to Opie (good mother figures), & had chemistry
with Andy. But I must say that my all time fave was Miss Peggy Moore,
RN. I know the actress playing her had personal problems & they had to
let her go but she remained my favourite. I think that if Ellie Walker,
Nurse Mary (both of them). Rosemary, & Peggy had stayed in Mayberry long
enough they too might have developed some of Helen's more unpleasant
traits. I mean how many times can you be told you're getting married
when you aren't?

As for Barney I preferred Thelma Lou to Hilda Mae or Juanita. I do think
Juanita must have given him something Thelma Lou didn't because as far
as I know he never wrote a poem for 'ol Thel.

When I find my mind wandering from the lovely thoughts of Mayberry,
here are a few things I do to get back my Mayberry mindset. Here are a
few suggestions to try out.

1. Leonard Blush, Leonard Blush. For awhile, all I'll think about is
Leonard Blush.
2. Make a pan of cashew fudge, but watch a TAGS tape instead of a
doctor program.
3. Look for opportunities to make a Citizen's Arrest.
4. Drop in at a service station for a cold drink.
5. Smile and nod at everyone you can.

Anyone else do this or something similar?

Kim - Wylie, TX

Kim, I love your ideas and the others mentioned. I especially like Number 1.
Did Leonard Blush ever sing good old 14A?

Kind behind the eyes.

Why do you have to be a nonconformist like everybody else?

The antenna used on the patrol car was capable of operating in the 30-50
mhz VHF range. It was common during that era for the radios that had to
cover a wide area to operate in the lower bands for the signal to travel
great distances. Depending on the weather, radio transmitter power and
location, you might get 50-60 miles from a mobile unit. At least that
was my experience.

I'm sorry, you've done been 10-4'ed.

When I was a kid and we were on a long car trip, there was nothing better than
stopping at a filling station (kids today wouldn't know what that is), and
getting a bottle of Coke out of the machine.
