Hey folks,

Just wanted to let everyone know I have updated the Mayberry Emporium web site
( www.mayberry-emporium.com ). There are many new signed items, photos and
matted pieces including a great Francis Bavier, and a "Destry Rides Again"
program signed by Andy and Delores Gray.

There are still a couple of "GooBears" left. These make great gifts.

Another neat item is the "Barney" crystal paperweight. It has a photo laser
engraved inside the 1 lb. crystal. It looks like it is floating.

We are still working on the Goober bobble-head. It is with Viacom and Andy
awaiting approval. Keep your fingers crossed! We still have the complete set of
8 Hamilton Collection plates in MINT CONDITION that have been signed by the
artist, Robert Tanenbaum.

If you see anything you like, make old Bert and offer. He may be in a generous
mode. After all you know he "Hates to seem pushy".

I also have a Howard Morris tribute page full of photos. Gosh I miss him!

Got some neat free items too. You just have to find them.

As always if you are looking for some great Mayberry related items go to
Weaver?s Department Store (www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/weavers/). By supporting
Weaver?s you make a lot of great things happen for us fans. Then if you are
still looking, stop by the Mayberry Emporium and say "Howdy"

"Ain?t you gotta jack?"

Gary

Not a lick of truth in this, not a lick.

Please run all these purported truths through snopes.com before posting
them as facts.

Friends, not meaning to get off topic here, but for further clarification on
the above, you may want to see what TruthorFiction.com has to say about this:

http://www.truthorfiction.com/rumors/a/1895exam.htm<http://www.truthorfiction.com/rumors/a/1895exam.htm>

They list this as "unproven," believing that it was a genuine test but that it
was probably intended for prospective teachers, not students. In addition to
www.snopes.com<http://www.snopes.com/>, cited by Jeff, I like to use
www.truthorfiction.com<http://www.truthorfiction.com/> for verifying e-rumors.
In this case, it seems to provide a clearer answer.

As to it being a test for prospective teachers, I believe Miss Crump would have
done well on it. She always struck me as a pretty smart (or pretty *and*
smart!) lady.

Quality, top-flite haircuts are always the norm' at Floyd's but did you know
about those little extras that Floyd has? For instance, Floyd has a full
line of scented talcs, hair oil and tonics. Need a shave?
Floyd has three lather flavors: menthol. regular and wintergreen. Floyd's
also has a full line of grooming aids for his customers. Pocket combs, nail
clippers, files and hair products. Whatever you want in the way of hair
care, Floyd's has it! Come on down to Floyd's Barber Shop. You'll be glad
you did!

Floyd's Barber Shop, Downtown Mayberry. Closed Sundays.

At the gym today, a lady I had not seen in a while told me about a trip she
and her family took through North Carolina and she said, "We went to
Mayberry!" I said, "Oh, you visited Mt. Airy!?" She said that indeed they
had visited Mt. Airy, the Bluebird Cafe, Wally's Garage, and a couple other
sites that escape my mind at the moment. They saw the patrol car, the Andy
and Opie statue and tried to locate Andy's house but had to be on their way
before they could hunt it down. She said the lady at the soda fountain
looked just like "Ellie with blonde hair!" Just thought all of you would
enjoy hearing about it. Almost makes me want to plan a special trip to NC!

Man, these season two DVD's are really something. I have found myself hitting
the "play all" button during these blazing hot days and relaxing with a visit
to Mayberry. After growing up catching an episode here and there on WTBS when I
could, this is a real treat to be able to see entire shows. It only makes me
want season three tomorrow, though! I had heard that "Convicts at Large" is on
that one and it is my very favorite. Could someone verify that for me? Also
wonder if anyone has found any life-size cardboard cutouts of Andy or Barney
that would look great in my family room. I 'll check Weaver's first, naturally.

Blessings to you and yours!

Alas, the only fault with dear Floyd's barber shop that I
can find is that he never admitted girls to his chair.

Yeah, he did do that lady speeder's hair in the jail once; but as far as I
know, no girl ever stepped up and sat down in that chair of his for a hair
fixin'. Not Really. Floyd may have had the magazines to swing it, but his was
a male's barber shop. Girls, for the most part, were not welcomed. And I
think that made Floyd's the special place it was.

We guess I can't complain much. The ladies had their beauty
shop (not that we ever saw a heck of a lot of that) and the
men had Floyd's. And they could be blissfully free in Floyd's. To talk and play
or just to snooze. Without worrying about "offending" some woman. That has to
be very
freeing to a man.
Yeah, the boys
were men and the men were boys in Floyd's shop. Just the way Nature intended
it. While the ladies looked in from the outside in wonderment.
But I sure would have loved to have been a fly on the wall!

Lydia, "Everybody lies at lunch. What of it?"
