Men need a place where they can go for a few minutes without being told what
they are doing wrong. Yes, I'm married...can you tell?
Men should have their hair cut by a barber in a barber shop like Floyd's...not
in some "hair salon" by a "stylist" named Mr. Ted. Why? It's as American as
having a hot dog at the ball game on the 4th of July.
I'm 41 and I've been going to the same barber since I was about 9 or 10.

That's episode number 74, so yes it will be included in the season three
set. IMO, the third season of TAGS was probably the best. Here are a few
milestones from season three:
64 Mr. McBeeVee: perhaps the best "father and son" episode
72 Floyd, the Gay Deceiver: only episode to feature Floyd as the central
character
76 The Bank Job: first appearance of Gomer Pyle (not "Man in a Hurry" as
many sources suggest)
79 Man in a Hurry: in poll after poll among devoted fans, this episode
consistently ranks as the #1 favorite
81 The Loaded Goat: the silliest episode of the series, but still
outstanding comedy writing
82 Class Reunion: a very sentimental episode; shows us a side of Andy we
rarely get to see
86 Andy Discovers America: first appearance of Miss Crump (she didn't get a
first name until later)
88 The Darlings are Coming: first appearance of the Darling Family
90 Barney's First Car: said to be Andy Griffith's favorite episode (Don
Knotts' favorite is The Pickle Story)
93 Dogs, Dogs, Dogs: laughs, laughs, laughs!
94 Mountain Wedding: first appearance of Ernest T. Bass
Other notable characters introduced in season three include Mayor Stoner,
Malcolm Merriweather, Peggy MacMillan, Rafe Hollister, and The Fun Girls.
According to amazon.com, the set will be released August 16th. If I wait
'til August -- that's my birthday -- maybe I'll get snowshoes or a DVD set
for a present! Amazon doesn't give any details about special features, but
they say it's in color (wrong) with Dolby Digital 2.0 sound (not likely).
If we're lucky, they'll include all of the cast commercials, like they did
with season two. Those alone were worth the purchase price!

Well, maybe for a hair fixin but how quickly you've forgotten Opie's girl
friend whom he tried to enter in the beauty contest. She was finally crowned
"Little Miss Mayberry" by Andy standing in Floyd's chair.

Sure is getting hot. Dang hot, matter of fact. Now is the time to get cool
with a nice haircut from Floyd's. Come on in and get out of the sun! Pull a
paper cone from the dispenser and have some of Floyd's cold bottled water.
There's no rush, so just sit back and relax. Floyd will have you all fixed
up in a jiffy. Guaranteed. So, why wait? Come to Floyd's today for that
cool, crisp haircut.
Floyd's Barber Shop. City of Mayberry. Closed on Sunday.

Oops, earlier I said that Rafe Hollister first appeared in season three, but
his first episode was actually "Sheriff Barney" in the middle of season two.
I guess the heat must be getting to me.

This is in reply to Gus Stefanow's request for verification that YES,
Gus...Convicts-at-Large will indeed be on the Season 3 DVDs. According to the
book "Mayberry Memories", it is episode #74 in TAGS series. I'm looking
forward to the Season 3 discs too (as are most of us all Mayberrians).

Don't mean to sound off topic, which I don't think this is. I do relate this
to the good schooling that was done in Mayberry and other communities.
http://www.barefootsworld.net/1895examcomp.html
This site has the answers to the test, (it is a long read, vur very
interesting) some of I know I had in grade school, and jr high, and I know
teachers like Miss Crump probably did take this test, in some form for their
certifications.
For example look a the fundementals of arithmetic Addition, subtraction,
Multiplication, and Division
I know Opie probably had this question on his tests Miss Crump gave.
The same for 1607---The Founding of Jamestown which I know was covered by
Miss Crump on the history part of the class. I had these same questions
myself as well as many of us on here probably did as well
Hodges confirmed the authenticity of the 1895 test the old fashioned way,
picked up the phone and called the Smoky Valley Genealogical Society &
Library, 785-825-4624
http://mwhodges.home.att.net/1895-test.htm the guy who confirmed it, has
this site.
Actually snopes should have contacted the Geneological Society and Library
they have the original document. I'd call them now but they're probably
closed
Snopes made the comment that todays students aren't dumbed down. Well
Seattle School district has a failure rate of 50% of high school minority
students (2004 figures). Mayberry would have never tolerated something like
this.
Teachers and school officials would have been fired over it.

Mayberry Squad Car models seem to be very hard to get.
Could this be an idea for Weaver's
I've looked on Ebay, none to be had.
Also maybe Weavers could come up with a model of Barney's motorcycle, and
Monroe's hearse.
they'd be collectors items particularly if they were die cast.
Sheriff Gerald K. Hege's site www.hegecountry.com had or has a full size
replica of the Mayberry sheriff's car there. One of Hege's deputies I think
owns it.
I don't know if it's still on the site or not. but it was a year or so ago.
Sheriff Hege has a die cast replica of his sheriff's car on his site, or did
at one time.
Hege is only 30-40 miles from Mayberry. His site does make a couple
references to Andy etc.
Hege says he's the toughest sheriff in America.
Sheriff Arpaio maybe as well www.mcso.org

I know one of you trained noticers will know the answer to my question. When
Barney is at his voice teacher's (Elnora Poltice) in one episode he sings a
song that begins "Now in the month of May...." and the chorus goes
"Fa-la-la-la......" Is this an actual published song and if so how can I get a
copy of it?
"Everybody on the truck!"
