Very big TAGS fan. Have recently performed at the Andy Griffith

play where Andy went to school. Have gotten to know David Browning over

John - I ordered 'Daddy and Them' on DVD from a fellow in the United Kingdom
two years ago. I just about die laughing at the movie every time I watch. I
have relatives that could give those people a run for their money. Especially
Daddy's family buying alcohol by the case. Anyone who has not seen this movie
should do themselves a favor and see it the first chance they get. Andy
Griffith is simply terrific in this movie, playing the part of O.T. Montgomery.
This movie also stars John Prine (His music is fabulous), Laura Dern, Kelly
Preston (She is married to John Travolta), Billy Bob Thornton, Jamie Lee
Curtis, Diana Ladd and Jim Varney.

I guess I would have to agree with Erin. Even though I am somewhat of the TAGS
purest, and would hope all the shows would be full episodes I am so happy that
I now have season-3 on DVD. I don't get TV land, and it is not syndicated in
my area so it is a real blessing to be able to watch TAGS when I want.

I couldn't get the song to play at the address listed in the letter from
Larry in CO who wrote: << If you go to the website below, you'll hear an
instrumental version
of "Believe Me, if All Those Endearing Young Charms" and a brief history of
the song:www.contemplator.com/ireland/believe.html>>
A working version can be found at:

Barney, what would you do if they asked you to sing A cappella?

Maybe Olive has her own Aunt Bee--either at home with her and the kids
or at least living nearby. Maybe the good folks at All Souls look in
on her from time to time. I know in my own little Mayberry-like town
we Lutherans try to help families like Olive's whenever we can,
whether they're officially part of the church or not.
Maybe there were many extra quarters on her table.

Otis was also on the Brady Bunch one time. He was the host of a pie eating
contest that Bobby once entered.
>From a restaurant, to a pie eating contest, to moonshine. Oh where oh where
did Otis go wrong? I wonder if he ever hit his mother in law in the mouth
with a pie.

I got this one from the same site as the song Believe Me, if All Those
Endearing Young Charms is on
I spent hours in this site tonite since that song came on here, downloaded
over 50 of the songs, plus got lyrics to most of those 50. Believe Me, if
All Those Endearing Young Charms is one of the most beautiful songs I've
heard.. and will have the privilege to sing.
This one is just as good too, it's an old civil war song.
Mayberry sure brought alot of these out indeed. and that's one of the
greatest assets of TAGS
You guys take your time going thru this site, it's well worth it.
I would like to TAGSRWC.com link this whole site to ours.
they should ask the authors tho, and I'm sure they'd link TAGS to theirs.
http://www.contemplator.com/america/vchair.html
I've added the lyrics to this song too.
We shall meet, but we shall miss him
There will be one vacant chair
We shall linger to caress him
While we breathe our evening prayer;
When a year ago we gathered
Joy was in his mild blue eye,
But a golden chord is severed
And our hopes in ruin lie.
Chorus
We shall meet, but we shall miss him
There will be one vacant chair
We shall linger to caress him
While we breathe our evening prayer.
At our fireside, sad and lonely,
Often will the bosom swell,
At remembrance of the story
How our noble Willie sell;
How he strove to bear our banner
Through the thickest of the fight,
And uphold our country's honor
In the strength of manhood's night.
Chorus
True, they tell us wreaths of glory
Ever more will deck his brow,
But this soothes the anguish only
Sweeping o'er our heartstrings now.
Sleep today, Oh early fallen,
In thy green and narrow bed,
Dirges from the pine and cypress,
Mingle with the tears we shed.
Chorus

I was watching "The Three Stooges Meet Hercules (1961)" on AMC the other
night and there were several "Mayberry" folks on there but the ones I
wanted to mention was Hal Smith (Otis Campbell) as King Theseus Of
Rhodes and George Neise (Roger Courtney: Episode 42 - The Clubmen) as
Ralph Dimsal/King Odius.
Both of the roles were large and not just bit parts. It's not the best
"Stooge" movie I've ever seen but seeing our friends from Mayberry there
was great!

Of course, Peppermint Patty called Charlie Brown ³Chuck.² No one ever
called her ³Peppa,² though. ;-)

I hope we're not making a big moulage out of the editing of Season 3 dvd's. At
first I was extremely disappointed, but looking at the bigger picture (no pun
intended), I realize that I am just grateful to get TAGS on dvd.

I just wanted to say something about that investment. I'm not sure how
much further that record went up the charts, and I can't say that I
remember how many folks in Mayberry invested their $40, but let's just
say there were 25 of them. That's a $1,000 investment with a return of
$5,000 initially just a few days later.
I wish my pension plan was playing that song.
