I was just wondering why George " Goober" Lindsey hasn't been back to any more
Mayberry Days. The last time, ( and I think the only time), he fell ill with
the flu or something. This year I noticed that he's scheduled to be in
Kentucky on the 24th, which isn't too far from Mt. Airy if he were to spend the
22-23 for the festival. Sure wish he could come. Also, how about the girl
who played Millie? Just watched her on an episode of Matlock, and was
wondering about her.

Well, I guess I'll just go rest a spell.
Good luck to you and yours!!

continued from prev post...

Now to the epilog. The Sterling DVD does have the epilog but it is in very bad
shape. It almost looks like it
was taken from a kinescope instead of a film. If this is the only remaining
version of the epilog I can see why
paramount might have decided to leave it off the DVD since there may have been
no way to clean it up.

It could very well be the same situation with the Barney Mends A Broken Heart
Episode. Either the epilog is
beyond restoring or doesn't exist at all. If thats the case I can understand
why Paramount didnt include them
and I am happy to have at least 30 out of 32 complete episodes. (actually I
guess you could say I have 31 out
of 32 if I swap dvd's real quick to catch the epilog of the Darling episode.
LOL)

I had no problems getting it up, although on the contemplator site one of
the guys is changing out the midis because of somebody supposedly stealing
bandwidth, when they link the midis to their pages.

That's why you download them into your harddrive. Nobody can take em.

One thing tho, it would have been so much better if Gomer had sang this
song.
Rafe is good, but Gomer can't be beat, and that's in Jim Nabors real life
too.
He's the best singer bar none, and we should feel blessed to have him among
us.

- Classic, traditional haircuts.
- School district approved haircuts.
- Parental Approved haircuts!

Young gents, remember that a well-groomed presence will impress a teacher
more than an apple will. Come to Floyd's today and take that first step
towards school year excellence! Come report card time, you'll be glad you
did. (Be nice and still bring the teacher some fruit!)

Well I think I may have solved part of the mystery as to why the episode
"The Darlings are Coming" didn't have the epilog on the 3rd season DVD.
(BTW it is missing the sponsor spot as well) I compared my copy of this
episode from the Sterling DVD which has this episode. For those not familar
with the Sterling DVD, it is entitled "The Best of the The Andy Griffith Show"
and has
8 of the 16 public domain episodes. (There is a companion DVD entitled The Best
of Barney
which has the other 8 episodes) It has all the epilogs but usually is missing
some parts
in the episodes themselves. However in the case of The Darlings Are Coming"
episode
other than having the epilog there is only a second or maybe two seconds
difference between
the two episodes. The main difference being that the official release has in a
couple of spots
some extra footage in the scene changes but it was minor and nothing really
happens in those few micro-seconds that are missing.

Both DVD's have the same quality of video as well. I actually think the quality
is fine but what
makes people think it isn't is because this episode is probably the darkest
episode ever shot
of TAGS. The opening scene was shot outside on a cloudy overcast day and when
you first see
the truck it is in the shade of a house or tree and looks very dark until it
comes out into the light.
Also a lot of other scenes were either shot at night or evening or it was
simulated to look that way
in hollywood fakery. This makes the entire episode seem dark and dim compared
to other episodes
but it doesn't seem like there is any bad footage, its just darker and probably
on purpose.

Now to the epilog. The Sterling DVD does have the epilog but it is in very bad
shape. It almost looks like it
was taken from a kinescope instead of a film. If this is the only remaining
version of the epilog I can see why

Kenneth - I also noticed Otis on one episode of Leave It To Beaver. He was the
restaurant manager in the episode titled 'Beaver Won't Eat'
Floyd also appeared in one of the Beaver episodes titled 'The Shave'. He
played a barber in this episode and his nam was ANDY!

Great fun isn't it!!!! Jim

Otis was also on the Brady Bunch one time. He was the host of a pie eating
contest that Bobby once entered.
>From a restaurant, to a pie eating contest, to moonshine. Oh where oh where
did Otis go wrong? I wonder if he ever hit his mother in law in the mouth
with a pie.

let alone keep up with Charlene. (just funning with ya)

Say, just who was on Town Council anyhow? I remember seeing Orville and
Floyd when the movie company was in town. I don't remember seeing Ellie
actually get elected although she was running hard at the end of the
episode. And Sam was the head of Town Council. Did Howard run once?

There were other council scenes in various episodes, anybody remember any
named characters serving?

I've always loved the episode (#149) where Barney finds the $250,000. I
seem to remember that the actor (Al Checco) playing the crook, Hennessy, was
a buddy of Don's. Any truth to my recollection or did I just use too much
witch hazel this morning?

Depending on what state you are in, the law may allow the mayor to vote in
some forms of local government. (However, obviously, we do not know what form
of government Mayberry has.) In my Town, the mayor does vote and can approve
some expense vouchers alone, depending upon the amount and whether it is an
emergency.

I want to welcome all the newcomers here to our corner of Mayberry. You will
soon notice how many well-versed folks we have subscribing to this digest.
Chances are good that if you need an answer for all things Mayberry, this is
THE place to be! With that in mind, I have one question myself for our
"experts." While enjoying Season Three this weekend, I began to wonder what
happened to all the Mayberry squad cars once the season changed way back when.
I know that we have had several replicas for sale here over the years. I just
wondered what the show did with the cars when done with them. I wonder if
anyone out there has one that actually was used by our Mayberry lawmen. I know
someone has the answer!

Thanks!

There was an episode of "The Odd Couple" that featured Hal Smith as a clown
that Felix hired to perform at his daughter's birthday party. But "Otis" was
too interested in playing cards with Oscar. I think the girl who played
Felix's daughter was the same young lady who played Helen's niece Cynthia.

I'm satisfied and content with my TAGS Season 3 DVD, as well as the first
two seasons. I wouldn't write a letter to Paramount voicing any discontent.
Instead, I would thank them for what they have done already. Don't rock the
boat
Henry Bennett! More importantly, I would encourage Paramount to release
'Gomer Pyle USMC' on DVD season by season.

With all the Charlie Brown references lately, don't forget Pamelyn Ferdin,
who voiced Lucy in the late 1960s and early 1970s. She appeared in the TAGS
episodes 'The Bazaar' and 'Girl Shy.' She's nice!
