I just seen on the weather channell were Surry County NC (Mount Airy) is
under a tornado watch, along with some others. Lets pray for all these people
that are having bad weather, and hope that these tornado's will just move on
out.

I got my DVDs and last night devoured about 20 episodes in one sitting.
They look awesome. It's amazing how great the scoring is. I was
watching "High Noon in Mayberry" and thinking how no sit-com today
would use a full orchestra (I assume it's a full orchestra) to build
tension the way Earle Hagen did. Mostly, I guess, because it would be
too expensive.
Also, I was watching "The Rivals," and the close-ups of little Karen,
with her hair blowing in the breeze, are truly gorgeous. Each episode
really is like a little movie.
Funny, I have an unexplainable craving for Sanka coffee. Good thing
it's 97% caffeine-free!

>Can anyone tell me who was the original artist/painter of the

Mitch Williams, the Mount Airy City Engineer, came up with the idea to
add the image to the water tower to promote tourism. Here is his reply
to the question:
The logo is actually owned by Julie Teague, the owner of Mayberry
Consignments on Main Street, and is used on license plates, souvenirs,
etc.. The original is a black and white silhouette. She graciously
let the City use it on the water tower. An artist out of Archdale, NC,
Jeremy Sams just added color and trees to the logo. See

I put an image file at:

The tower is on the corner of Haymore Street and Rockford Street, just
across from the house where Andy Griffith grew up. You may recognize
the address from an episode where a stop sign had fallen - just another
way Andy said "hey" to the folks back home.

Hey everybody. Just got a note that season 4 will be released around
November 22nd. Just in time for Christmas. What GREAT news. Also, I
was wondering something while watching the episode about Barney Finding
250,000. When the robber said he would get the milk so Barney could
check the window, I noticed that when he got the milk out of the frig,
it didn't have a cap on it. He just poured into the glasses. That got
me to wandering about the old milk bottles. I don't remember ever
getting milk in those bottles. Did they have a cork for a cap or was it
a sealed glass top or plastic or what? Wander what causes that?
Anyway, just thinking about those milk bottles. By the way, I sure am
looking forward to Mayberry Days next month. Hope to see a lot of you
there. Well got to go. Horatio (Kevin)

does anyone know if the studios ever kept any of the VIN's off of them.
if they did, and we can find out what those numbers were, then the cars can
be traced and it can be found out what happened to them.
if I remember, the license plate number was JAL-327
wonder who really owns that, or if it's a real license plate
Another tidbit on license plates
for anybody who doesn't remember, the license plate to the Clampett truck is
119-MER and is an actual California plate.
also if any of our mayberrians want to see the original truck it's at the
Ralph Foster Museum at School of the Ozarks, at Point Lookout, MO
Drive south on 65 highway out of Branson MO, and it's around 20 miles gave
or take a few.
It's awesome to see.

Does anyone remember the show "The New Andy Griffith Show?" I have several
(if not all) of the episodes on tape. It ran for a very short time. Andy is
married to Lee Meriweather (sp?)....It's not TAGS, but kind of interesting....
Also, I wonder how Ollie and Nora faired down there in Lake Charles, during
Hurricane Katrina? Of course, I'm assuming they meant Lake Charles, Louisiana,
although I can't remember if they ever actually said that or even implied
it....

I truly agree we all need go to the tvshowsondvd website and vote for Gomer
episodes to be released. Remember, that's what we did for the Andy episodes;
just might work for Gomer too. Come one, come all!!

Allen...how did you fare during the storm? I know this thing went very close
to you but not as a hurricane, but still lots of rain is devastating as well.
To the rest of the group, lots of money is needed for relief. Do the Mayberry
thing and donate to the Red Cross or Salvation Army and earmark the donation
for hurricane relief. If we all chip in, we can make a difference. I did the
fundraiser for hurricane Floyd in NC and we got about $2500...but less than 50
donated. This time our membership has doubled from that period of time. Let us
all give a little, and those who can give a lot.
Andy would say, "I 'preciate it."

NEWS FROM TAGSRWC HQ: Fourth Season DVD Release Date
Paramount has announced that the Fourth Season of TAGS will be released
on DVD on Nov. 22. As with its DVD releases of the first three
seasons, Paramount is working very hard to find the most complete and
highest-quality master prints from which to make the Fourth Season DVD
set.
When it comes to quality of videos, Paramount, even more than parent
company Viacom or sister studio CBS, has the reputation of being among
the most meticulous studios in the business. Paramount is aware of the
desires and concerns of fans about completeness and quality.
By the way, the Fourth Season DVD set will not have
any original commercials featuring the TAGS cast because...none were
made for that season's episodes.
Our Weaver's Dept. Store will begin taking pre-orders for the Fourth
Season on Nov. 1.

Hey CameraNut and all,
All is well here in Huntsville, AL. All we received was rain and
wind...no tornadoes which is always our biggest concern. Thanks to
everybody that has e-mailed me, or called, to ask how we faired.
I'm sure we do have members that have been greatly effected by this
storm so I join with CameraNut in asking that folks help were they can.
It is the Mayberry thing to do.

Hello all,
I bought my Adam 12 season one last week (Mr Weaver has not yet delivered my
TAGS season 3). Several TAGS alumni have been spotted so far. We have seen
Miss Rosemary, Rita Campbell and Aunt Nora. Today we saw Hal Smith. He was
playing a character very much like Otis but we were immediately tipped off that
there was no way Otis had found his way from Mayberry to L.A. because of course
our Otis was not known to drink and drive; and this character was arrested for
DUI. My son ever the comedian is sure that if we watch long enough we may even
be able to spot Juanita down at the diner or even the ever elusive Sara. I'm
the scent of much bigger game though. I am on the lookout for Mr. Schumpp. I
will report back if he is spotted.

In Gadsden, Alabama, the mayor doesn't have a vote but he does have
veto/signage power. In Anniston nearby, the mayor does vote but his official
title is
"councilman at large" and a full-time city manager (which Mayberry apparently
doesn't have...come to think of it, that would've made a good episode) handles
the day to day business.
I can understand in a township like Mayberry, the mayor has influence over
the purse strings (mayors do make out budgets, after all, although council
members and the public have a say in it too), but it always bothered me that on
some occasions, Mayor Stoner implied he could fire Andy. (Of course he
couldn't.)
Maybe his shorts were a little tight that day or else he was a former
businessman used to dealing with people in a certain way.

Well, yesterday was my birthday (it's August you know) and I didn't get those
snowshoes I was hoping for. So it looks like my trip out west will have to be
postponed again. Maybe I will ask Santa to bring the snowshoes for Christmas.
Anyway, I'm sitting here with a wagon full of supplies. Anybody want a
sandwich? Let's see...I've got peanut butter and jelly, peanut butter and
peanut butter, peanut butter and......
