I saw Clint Howard last night on the opening of monday night
football (now what it was,was football).
Concerning Earnest T. being a great catch for some single
gal.......well,he was a man who had goals in life.
Remember,he was saving up for a gold tooth.

I went over to the Dime Store to buy another albatross for
my mantel, when I got to deeper thinking about me and Goober. Yeah, there was
another man's car in my yard, but
it was only AFTER He had been out on a date with Gloria. Helen just couldn't
leave well enough alone, now could she?
First, Andy fixes us up, then his girl comes along and
breaks us apart. Heartaches, nothing but heartaches.

p.s. That was an Albatross figurine for my mantel. Not a
life size Albatross that I was talking about.

You say you're the man. I won't argue. Were you the man who hooked up
Aunt Bee's new Refrigerator, dishwasher, and garbage disposal? Did you
buy them back from her when sh had to sell them to pay the I.R.S. aka
"Infernal Revenue"?
Just curious,

Marie in s.w. Louisiana

>>A poster on another site I frequent made reference to a "national
potato day on TAGS." I'm not afraid to show my ignorance. What's he
talking about? Martha, sometimes a bear with very little
brain--Huntsville, AL<<

Martha, I believe this reference is to the episode was when Otis was
justifying buying liquor from the Morrison sisters that they would only
sell for special occasions, I believe one of his supposed holidays was
National Potato Day or week?
Another possibility was the episode featuring the Mobile Museum. You
may remember that the color episode featuring Warren included a parade
for the arrival of the Governor. That parade featured the Potato queen.
It was one of only a few cases where a women was shown in a bathing
suit, but the interesting part of her clothing was her crown, which was
adorned with a number of potatoes. There was some reference during the
discussion that "it was her turn this year" I believe that was Sharon
Dobbins.

There may be other special occasion potato references.

Well it must've been a special occasion because the Morrison Sisters sold
their "elixir" to Otis and others who celebrated it.

It is actually National Potato Week , not National Potato Day. This is from
the episode "Alcohol and Old Lace" where the Morrison sisters are reporting all
of the moonshiners in the county to Andy so that they will have a monopoly on
moonshine business in Mayberry, all the while appearing to be sweet little old
ladies running a flower business. The Morrison sisters believed in having some
"elixir" for celebrations and special occasions, but did not approve of buying
moonshine for "just plain guzzling". So in order to buy moonshine from them,
the customer had to have a holiday in mind on which to use the "elixir" for
celebrating. One of the "holidays" was National Potato Week

Ms. Perry portrayed Pickles in the 1st season of DICK VAN DYKE. Joan
Shawlee took on the role for the 2nd season.
