A couple of weeks ago someone (sorry but I forget who) posted about a scene in
Barney's First Car in which the part in Andy's hair was on the opposite side of
his head. I thought this was funny and not possible but I watched the episode
and sure enough that was the case.
I think I figured out the whys and wherefores of this scene.
If you watch and look when Mrs Lesh leaves the porch after giving Barney the
keys there is a short scene where Barney and Andy watch her walk away. In the
background you can see part of the front door to Andy's house and a part of the
wicker chair on the porch. Then comes the scene where Barney tells Mrs. Lesh
not to look back and the camera then shows her walking down the street towards
the "church on the corner".
Then comes the reversed scene. If you look closely this is the EXACT scene that
was shown a few seconds before where the Andy and Barney watch her leave the
porch but only now its reversed. The hinges on the door are on the other side
as well as the chair.
Someone must have decided in editing that they needed to show Barney and Andy
her watching her walk down the street and they had not shot a scene for that so
they took one they already had and simply reversed it. NOW they are looking the
other way and in the direction that she was walking. Had they tried to use that
scene as it was they would have been looking UP the street.
I applaud the Trained Observer who posted this. I've seen this episode a
hundred times and never noticed it.

Does anyone have any articles or photos of the Medal of Freedom ceremony?
My local newspaper's article barely mentioned Andy and I'm so disappointed.
Aunt Bee of Orlando
Aunt Bee,
Our local paper, the Charlotte Observer, had a really nice article and two
pictures of the Award Ceremony. It was in Thursday's newspaper, go to
_www.charlotte.com_ (http://www.charlotte.com) .
To quote the beginning of the article, "From Mayberry to Washington":

TIM FUNK / OBSERVER WASHINGTON BUREAU
You half-expected Opie and Barney and Goober to be in the audience: All
slicked up in their Sunday best, wielding their Polaroids, gently elbowing
Aunt
Bee every time the president of
the United States -- the one and only -- said something nice about Andy. ...
And they would have smiled from one ear to the other when the commander in
chief, standing in the middle of
the East Room of the White House, hung that gold medal
around Andy's neck. Yessiree, Barney would have told the folks back
home.....our own Andy -- winner of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the
nation's
highest civilian award. Tar Heel TV star Andy Griffith, now a snowy-haired 79,
was one of 14 recipients...

...."Griffith, who now lives in Manteo, on the NC coast, was accompanied
by his wife, Cindi, his daughter Dixie and friends from North Carolina and
Texas.
"This meant a lot to him, said one of his friends , also from Manteo. "He's
very proud."
.....So are the folks back home, Andy."
Great tribute, don't ya think?
I'm so proud..as proud as can be!
This will surely put us all in a Mayberry state of mind!

A few months ago I talked my husband into watching the ORIGINAL
movie:"The Blob". (I had seen it years ago on a black and white t.v.
and had forgotten most of it, ESPECIALLY W H O was in it. )
When it came on I was surprised it was in color. What I was REALLY,
really surprised about was that it featured "Miss Crump", Aneta, in the
lead female role. I was shocked! She was a lovely young woman; we
thought she looked very pretty! (I thought the acting was a BIT
overdone and kinda campy but that made it more fun! Imagine,Miss Crump
bein' chased by the BLOB!

Hey folks,
A couple of new things on the Mayberry Emporium web site
(_www.mayberryemporium.net_ (http://www.mayberryemporium.net) )
First there is a great 16" x 20" coloring page featuring a great caricature
of Andy, Barney and Opie. The drawing was made by renown comic book artist Al
Bigley. Also included is a 16 count box of Crayola Crayons. This item is
priced right for Christmas!
The only "Mayberry" connection this next item has is that I got the software
to convert and Andy Griffith album to CD. I am providing this service
because I know there are many of you who have old LP albums and can't listen to
them anymore. I can convert them CD at a very reasonable price.
As always for ALL your Mayberry needs shop at Weaver's Department Store
(_www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/weavers/_ (http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/weavers/)
)
by supporting Weaver's you make a lot of things possible for us TAGS fans.
Then, if you are still looking for a little something else, stop by the
Emporium and say "Yo!!"
BREAD!!!!
